Hola!
I love you all.
Do you remember how much sleep you got today? Did you think it was odd to be asked how much sleep you got today instead of last night?
Each day starts with the very first thing we do, wake up. However much sleep you had that started last night (yesterday), and when you wake up you are starting a new day with however many hours of sleep you have as your “charge”. You can take naps and do things like YOGA NIDRA to help charge up throughout the day but the vast majority of your charging is done when you are done with your day.
It is important to find out how much sleep you need. Everybody is different and everybody has different days. Some people who normally need 8 hours of sleep may have had a very long and hard day and they need a little bit more sleep than normal. Maybe they woke up earlier than normal and by the end of the day they are more tired than normal but they didn’t do anything harder that day.
If you always wake up to an alarm, you may not know how much sleep you actually need. You also need to have the ability to remember what you did that day so that if you do not feel well rested in the morning ask yourself what you did the day before and take notice if is a pattern.
Now you know what a day that includes that pattern will need to have the appropriate amount of time budgeted for the next day cycle so that you are as well rested as you want/need to be.
Alarms are good, but it is nice to be able to know that when the alarm goes off, it was because you needed extra rest.
I am a howl away if you need me.
I love you.
