Have you ever heard that having “proper” posture is good for your health?
Posture: the position in which someone holds their body when standing or sitting.
Even when we are sitting our body is still holding it self up. When we are lying down our body also has a preferred alignment.
Imagine a little loop on your head and you were able to be pulled off the ground.
As your feet left the ground and you relaxed your body would be in the “proper” posture. In order to sit you would first have to position your body in the way it would be most comfortable in the seat and then someone would insert the seat into the space below you that you have formed for the seat.
Before the seat is provided to “relax” again your body is in a position that would take energy and focus in order to maintain. Once seated, the energy and focus it takes is reduced however the effort must remain in order not to crumble into the seat.
This crumbling occurs potentially upon contact with the seat and with time in seat/fatigue will require more energy to maintain intended posture.
My point is it’s takes energy to maintain a healthy posture and the ability to focus and return to intent will allow you to have a posture with intent in any situation or orientation you may find yourself standing/seated/lying or moving.
Try to find the effort it would take to assume a position hanging from the loop in any posture.
