Today’s post is the second half of the birds I mentioned yesterday

I tried to think of birds that were very different from one another and today is more of the same

First up is the Raven (not a crow but looks similar)

-They are among the most intelligent animals on the planet thought to display intelligence in some cases one might associate with primates!

-They have excellent memory and sounds they have heard previously can be mimicked including words spoken by humans

-They have complexed social relationships with other Ravens and have been known to play “catch”with one another

-It has been said when a Raven passes away other Ravens were observed having a “Raven Funeral”

Next up is a fascinating bird that can easily grab your attention by its captivating presence, the Hummingbird

Here are some facts

-Hummingbirds are the only bird that can hover in place and fly backwards

-They weigh less than a penny!

-Their wings beat at a rate up to 80 times a second and create the humming sound that gives them their name

Finally the Bird that is our National Mascot, the Eagle

Here are some facts about the Eagle

-They can spot other animals from 2 miles away

-An Eagle nest can weigh up to 2000 pounds!

-An Eagle is strong enough that it can lift with its Talons (feet) small deer

I learned many of these facts researching for these post about the birds highlighted and I hope you found them interesting, I certainly did

I am not sure which fact was more surprising but I know that for myself each bird now has a whole new level of appreciation
