GOOD MORNING TO THE SON AND THE SKY❕👋🏼
PARQUE / PARC= “PARK” IN SPANISH 🇲🇽 ! FRENCH 🇫🇷
I LOVE YOU 💓
Howl you doing❓
I hope everything is GREAT with you and at home 🥰
Today for you I have a post about a park. Not just any park but a National Park. Not just a National Park but Yellowstone National Park.
Yellowstone is the only National Park that I knew by name without having to verify.
In my words a National Park is a specific area of land that has been designated as “Public” land (meaning it belongs to all US citizens) and is protected and managed by the federal government (National Park Service) 🏕️
I have never been to this historic park and one day my intention is to visit and see for myself what is so understandably majestic about Yellowstone.
Here are some interesting facts about Yellowstone.
1. First National Park: Yellowstone, established in 1872, is the world’s first national park.
2. Supervolcano: The park sits atop a massive supervolcano, known as the Yellowstone Caldera, which last erupted approximately 640,000 years ago.
3. Geysers and Hot Springs: Yellowstone has more than 500 geysers—over half of the world’s total—including Old Faithful, which erupts roughly every 90 minutes.
4. Size: The park spans parts of three states: Wyoming (most of the park), Montana, and Idaho, covering about 3,472 square miles.
5. Wildlife Haven: Yellowstone is home to diverse wildlife, including bison, elk, grizzly bears, wolves, and bald eagles. It’s the only place in the U.S. where bison have lived continuously since prehistoric times.
6. Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone: The park features its own stunning canyon, carved by the Yellowstone River, with dramatic waterfalls and colorful rock formations.
7. Thermal Features: Along with geysers, the park boasts mud pots, fumaroles, and hot springs, including the vibrant Grand Prismatic Spring, known for its rainbow-colored waters.
8. Historic Structures: The Old Faithful Inn, built in 1904, is one of the largest log structures in the world and a National Historic Landmark.
9. Frequent Earthquakes: Yellowstone experiences around 1,000 to 3,000 small earthquakes annually, most too small to be felt, due to its volcanic activity.
10. UNESCO World Heritage Site: Yellowstone was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1978 for its geological and ecological significance.
UNESCO is the United Nations Education Science Communication Organization (without specifically mentioning UNESCO it has been a part of previous post and will be tomorrow’s post focus).
