(OCTOBER 24 2024 MAKE UP)

GOOD MORNING TO THE SON AND THE SKY❕👋🏼

I LOVE YOU 💓

Howl you doing❓

I hope everything is GREAT with you and at home 🥰

Today for you I have a post about Astronomy.

Astronomy is defined as the scientific study of celestial objects, space and the universe as a whole.

Something I find interesting when observing the stars up above is the fact (listed below) that we are seeing different moments in time with respect to the direct source we are observing.

Not like looking at two trees that were planted 100 years apart but a tree as a seed 100 years ago and a tree as a seed today. If you look at today’s seed and the 100 year old seed it would only be as a seed that is now a 100 year old tree. Or go back in time 100 years with today’s seed to see them both as seeds.

The light that shines from a star looks the same as it would yesterday and tomorrow. The time it takes for that light to reach where it is observable from earth depends on the distance the star is from earth.

Two shining stars having different distance from earth will take different amounts of time to be observable and as they appear although they look similar the source starlight departed on separate dates in time, potentially thousands of years apart.

So we see the stars in our time but the way you flick a light-switch on and the room immediately fills with light, if the light switch was on earth to turn on a star it could take thousands of years for that room to fill with that stars light.

Here are some interesting facts about Astronomy:

1. Neutron stars are insanely dense: A sugar-cube-sized piece of material from a neutron star would weigh about a billion tons on Earth. These stars are the collapsed cores of massive stars and are among the densest objects in the universe.
2. The light we see from stars is old: When you look at stars in the night sky, you’re seeing light that left them years — sometimes thousands of years — ago. That means you’re literally looking into the past.
3. Venus spins the “wrong” way: Unlike most planets, Venus rotates on its axis from east to west, so the Sun rises in the west and sets in the east. It also has an extremely slow rotation — a day on Venus lasts longer than its year.
4. A day on a gas giant is very short: Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, rotates incredibly fast. Its day is only about 10 hours long, despite its enormous size.
5. There are more stars than grains of sand on Earth: Estimates suggest there are around 100 to 400 billion stars in the Milky Way alone — and there are likely over 2 trillion galaxies in the observable universe. That’s more stars than all the grains of sand on every beach on Earth.
6. Black holes don’t “suck” things in: Despite their reputation, black holes don’t act like cosmic vacuum cleaners. If our Sun were replaced by a black hole of the same mass, the planets would continue to orbit it in the same way — they’d just be very, very cold.
7. The coldest place in the universe is a nebula: The Boomerang Nebula, about 5,000 light-years away, has a temperature of -457.7°F (-272°C) — just a degree above absolute zero.
8. Rogue planets drift through space: Not all planets orbit stars. There are “rogue planets” floating freely through the galaxy, not bound to any solar system.
9. Saturn would float in water: Saturn is mostly made of gas and is less dense than water. If you could find a body of water large enough, Saturn would actually float.
10. The Great Red Spot on Jupiter is a massive storm: This storm has been raging for at least 350 years and is so big that Earth could fit inside it two or three times.
Time well spent observing times
