Today for you I have a post about the make up date above. That date is a special date for me. The date is November 11 and Veteran’s Day is the holiday celebrated on 11/11.

When the time on a digital clock is 11:11 am or pm, it is the only moment throughout a day when all four numbers are the same. I was once told that when you see this time (11:11) you should make a wish because that moment is a “special” moment. I do not believe it needs to be anything other than the fact it is 2 out of 1,440 moments each day when you can observe any set of numbers representing the current time and all four positions on a digital clock face are occupied with the same number in each position.

However 1111 is associated with many interesting things and I will share more on this tomorrow.

The reason Veteran’s Day is a special holiday for me is actually for reasons that do not directly have anything to do with the fact that I am a veteran. As previously mentioned I served in the American military with the US ARMY. I signed up three years after the events on 9/11 while our country was at war with Terrorism and was deployed overseas to support that mission.

I am proud to be an American and a US Combat Veteran but for reasons that might surprise you (more on this in a future post). I reflect on my time in service on Veteran’s Day however outside of reasons like patriotic holidays and the occasional reminder of my military experience via something in media or observe a man or woman in uniform I reflect on this less than what I thought I would.

The reason 11/11 is special in addition to what I shared above is because it represents a day that I was able to overcome something that was present in my life for years that was not in my best interest to continue for multiple reasons. An unhealthy habit that was causing health issues, relationship issues and challenged the part of me that I knew existed but was not leading with because it was easier and more comfortable to continue with that which did not serve my intention to be a better huMan by working on myself the way I wanted to.

Although harder, less comfortable and without anyone else able to do for me what I needed to do on my own I decided to commit and truly commit to what would allow me to honor my intention to always be moving closer to the person I am trying to be. You more than anyone else and along with others were in mind when committing to my intention that would allow you the potential to see me for what I wanted you to see me try to be.

I learned about myself during the period immediately thereafter the change was made and for years after and even up to this day, and continue to learn about myself and use the decision on that day as a reference point to observe personal growth and as an example of personal strength.
