GOOD MORNING TO THE SON AND THE SKY❕👋🏼
CRÁNEO / CRÂNE = “SKULL” IN SPANISH 🇲🇽 / FRENCH 🇫🇷
I LOVE YOU 💓
Howl you doing❓
I hope everything is GREAT with you and at home 🥰
Today, for you, I have a post about the human skull.
I did not know many of the facts about the skull I will post below other than the skull not being fully formed until later in childhood and its role in protecting the brain.
Here is an image for reference while reading the interesting facts:

Here are some interesting facts about the human skull:
1. Made of 22 Bones: The adult human skull is made up of 22 bones—8 cranial bones that protect the brain and 14 facial bones.
2. No Movement After Fusion: At birth, the bones of the skull are not fully fused, which allows for easier passage through the birth canal. These bones gradually fuse together during childhood.
3. Fontanelles in Babies: Babies have soft spots on their skulls called fontanelles, which are gaps between the skull bones that later close as they grow.
4. The Skull is Not Just a Helmet: Besides protecting the brain, the skull also supports facial structure, anchors muscles for chewing and facial expression, and houses sensory organs (eyes, ears, nose).
5. The Jaw is the Only Movable Part: The mandible (lower jaw) is the only skull bone that moves. It’s connected to the skull by the temporomandibular joint (TMJ).
6. Sinuses Lighten the Load: The skull contains sinuses—air-filled cavities that reduce its weight and help with resonance of the voice.
7. Teeth Are Not Bones: Even though they’re in the skull, teeth are not technically bones. They’re made of enamel and dentin and don’t contain bone marrow.
8. Strong but Light: The skull is incredibly strong for its weight, designed to absorb impact and protect the brain effectively.
9. Unique Like a Fingerprint: Each person’s skull is slightly different—used in forensic science to help identify individuals.
10. Has Holes Called Foramina: These are openings that allow nerves and blood vessels to pass in and out of the skull.
I did not know there were so many bones in our skull let alone our head❕
What about the skull do you find most interesting❓
I found many of the facts fascinating and the one that surprised me the most was the fact that teeth are not bones.
