Today, for you, I have a post about the story of the magic penny.

This story actually comes from my math class last week and I thought I would share it with you.

The story is about exponential growth which is a mathematical term that means when something that grows at the rate of its current value. I’ll explain using the story of the magic penny.

The story goes a girl was sleeping and a leprechaun places a magic penny under her pillow.

She wakes up in the morning and sees the penny. That night she sees the penny under her pillow and the next morning she wakes up and sees two pennies.

That night she goes to bed with two pennies under her pillow and wakes up to four pennies.

That night she goes to bed with 4 pennies and wakes up to find 8 pennies.

After 30 days guess how many pennies she has?

She would have 1,073,741,824 pennies!

That is $10,737,418.24❕

Pretty crazy right❓

The story explains how quickly something can grow when it is exponential growth and in this case, 1 penny to over 10 million dollars in just 30 days❕ WOW❕
