GOOD MORNING TO THE SON AND THE SKY❕👋🏼
PRONUNCIACIÓN / PRONONCIATION = “PRONUNCIATION” IN SPANISH 🇲🇽 / FRENCH 🇫🇷
I LOVE YOU 💓
Howl you doing❓
I hope everything is GREAT with you and at home 🥰
Today, for you, I have a post about an additional component to our word of the day section on our blog which is the “phonetic pronunciation” of the word.
The phonetic pronunciation is how you would pronounce (say) the word as if you were reading the word the way it would sound when reading a word in English in order to correctly say it in the language it is from.
For example dog would like like dawg if you were to spell it the way it sounds and not spell it proper.
Dog has three letters and the D and the G when saying dog sound like the letters when saying them alone or how you would say them when speaking our alphabet.
The O in dog doesn’t sound like O when you say the letter in our alphabet, the O in dog sounds like “aw”.
So you pronounce dog like “dawg” but you spell it like D O G.
By including the phonetic pronunciation along with our word of the day located between these bracket symbols “{ }” you will know how to say a word that is in another language by saying it in our language when reading it.
For example dog in Spanish is “perro”. You might see perro and when reading it say something that would sound like purro because the per of perro could be read as per or pur like the sound a cat makes. But the pe of perro makes a sound like the word “pay” in English. So to pronounce perro properly it would sound like {PAY-rro}.
The PEH is capitalized in {PEH-rro} because that is the part of the word you put emphasis on (the part of the word you say at a volume that is usually louder than the rest of the word). For example when we say “Baby” we might say the first part of Baby slightly louder than the second half of the word like “BAY-bee” (try saying baby and see if you say the whole word the same or if it sounds different from the first syllable to the second syllable (syllables are the “parts” of the word).
Perro also includes a double r (peRRo) and in Spanish when you have two R’s next to each other it often makes a separate sound called a rolling R which makes a sound like a dog growling if you were to make the sound while vibrating your tongue. Try making a growl sound while vibrating your tongue against the roof of your mouth (ER-R-R-R-R-R).
Basically the phonetic pronunciation is to help us be able to say the word out loud that is in another language that when reading it as if it was English in the phonetic pronunciation actually sounds like the word in the language it is from.
I LOVE YOU!! 🤟🏼
