Today, for you, I have a post about wind chimes.

You have likely heard at some point wind chimes whether it was something that may have been in the yard of a home, public place or anywhere else you may have encountered them.

I think some of my earliest memories with hearing wind chimes were at my grandparents house (both my mom and my dad’s parents) and it is nice to have nothing but the sound of the wind and the chimes to create a good vibe.

Historically it is believed that the origin of the wind chime comes from China and was used for various reasons like bringing good luck to a home and other cultural beliefs surrounding their traditions.

There are different types of chimes but all make sound when they chimes make contact with one one another.

Some chimes are made to be in tune with a certain frequency or musical scale that keeps all the sounds the chimes might make pleasant to hear and in some case can be made to actually create a sequence of sound like a song.

The materials used make a difference with how the chimes look and sound.

They are commonly made from bamboo, glass and from my experience usually metal.

The different materials have different properties that cause them to sound different with clarity and sustain (how long you hear the sound when the chimes make contact before it lowers in volume until you can no longer hear it).
