Today, for you, I have another post featuring “Mario Day”.

There is a way of playing video games that has become more and more p popular over the last decade or so called “Speedrunning or Speedrun” .

Essentially you would play a game such as the original Super Mario Bros. game on Nintendo Entertainment System and attempt to beat the game in as little time as possible.

The ability for people to complete the game in similar times being something speed runners had to be creative to shave time off based on performance alone and then found ways to exploit the games design and were able to complete the game in faster times with bypassing previously believed essential portions of the game required to complete in order to beat the game.

Speedrunning now in some ways is more known for the community to first bring these types of exploits to the gamer community’s awareness and spawned a genre of play style that focuses on exploring potential exploits with the intent to discover the exploits with or without the intent what might be done thereafter as not the motivation to find exploits but the joy of discovery similar to metal detecting on the beach if metal were programmer’s vulnerabilities.

Speedrunning is also another good example how to get more replay value from things you have done previously that feel as if they are starting to become stale by introducing another way of approaching a familiar game in a new way that sometimes can create an experience that feels entirely different.

THIS DAY IN HISTORY MARCH 10 1876:
Alexander Bell makes the first phone call ever made to another person. The phone call was answered by Thomas Watson and what was believed to be the first messaged delivered over the phone was "Come here Watson I want to see you".  This would be the first time voice was transmitted electrically from one person to another using technology that blends the spoken word with the key and kite.
