Today, for you, I have a post about the phases of the moon.
The moon reflects light from the sun and that is what makes the moon appear to glow.
At night we can sometimes also see the moon glowing but not all of it. The rest of it has a shadow making that portion of the moon no longer visible but it is still there (sometimes even with a shadow we can still see the “whole moon” but only a portion of the moon is glowing.
There are 8 phases to the moon with 4 primary and 4 intermediate.
Here are the 8 phases of the moon below.
The period of time for the moon to go from one phase through each and every other phase is about 29.5 days known as a lunar month.
Once the moon has completed each phase it starts over again.
In summary each time we look at the moon it is currently in 1 of it’s 8 phases and with the image above you will be able to know what phase to expect next and when it will begin again (about 30 days from the day you observe the moon it will be in the same moon phase again).
Both the glow and the shadow begin to appear from right to left.
I LOVE YOU❕

Today, for you, I have a post about the Statue of Liberty.
Liberty is another word for freedom or independence.
I have been to New York City but I did not see the Statue of Liberty. The statue is actually located on Ellis Island in New York which apparently was only a few miles from where I was.
One day I plan on going back to New York and I will see the world famous statue then.
Here are some interesting facts about the Statue of Liberty: 🏗️ 1. She Was a Gift from France • The statue was a gift from France to the United States, meant to commemorate the centennial of American independence (1776–1876) and to celebrate friendship between the two nations. • It was designed by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, and the iron framework was engineered by Gustave Eiffel, who later built the Eiffel Tower.
⸻
🌎 2. Her Full Name Has Meaning • Her official name is “Liberty Enlightening the World.” • She represents Libertas, the Roman goddess of liberty — a symbol of freedom from tyranny and oppression.
⸻
🔨 3. Built Like a Giant Puzzle • The statue was constructed in France and shipped to New York in 350 pieces, packed into 214 crates. • It was then reassembled on Liberty Island (then called Bedloe’s Island) in 1886.
⸻
🔥 4. The Torch Was Once a Lighthouse • From 1886 to 1902, the torch actually served as a working lighthouse, with light visible for about 24 miles (39 km) out to sea. • The U.S. Lighthouse Board managed it — but it wasn’t very effective due to poor brightness.
⸻
⚖️ 5. Everything Has Symbolism • Torch = enlightenment and progress • Crown’s 7 rays = the seven seas and seven continents • Broken chains at her feet = freedom from oppression • Tablet = law and reason — it’s inscribed with “JULY IV MDCCLXXVI” (July 4, 1776)
⸻
🧱 6. She’s Made of Copper — and Changed Color • The statue’s exterior is made of 3/32-inch copper sheets (about the thickness of two pennies). • She originally shone bright reddish-brown, but over time, oxidation turned her into the famous green patina that actually protects the metal underneath.
⸻
⚙️ 7. Height and Weight • Total height (base to torch): 305 feet (93 meters) • Just the statue alone: 151 feet (46 meters) • Weight: around 225 tons (450,000 pounds)
⸻
🗝️ 8. The Face Was Modeled After Bartholdi’s Mother • Sculptor Bartholdi used his mother, Charlotte Bartholdi, as inspiration for Liberty’s face — symbolizing maternal compassion and strength.
⸻
💡 9. She Almost Ended Up in Egypt • Before America, Bartholdi proposed a similar statue called “Egypt Carrying the Light to Asia” — a robed woman holding a torch at the Suez Canal’s entrance. • Egypt declined due to cost, so he adapted the idea for the United States.
⸻
🕊️ 10. A Symbol for Immigrants • For millions arriving by ship in the late 1800s and early 1900s, the Statue of Liberty was the first thing they saw — a beacon of hope as they entered through Ellis Island.
Not many statues that I am aware of have as many interesting different types of facts.
Pretty neat right❓

Today, for you, I have an “On Foot” post again to show the “new” park by my place.
You will get more views of the park tomorrow but today I am sharing some fresh artwork in the “new” area of the park and a metal sculpture about 5 minutes away from the park.
The park is also a concert venue and I am looking forward to hearing some local musicians break the park in hopefully before winter.
I have heard music at this park before but not since it has been “upgraded”.
It is basically a brand new park area that includes multiple stages for music and still has the main attraction which is the river alongside the park.
I walk near the park everyday but now I will walk through the park more often.
I have not checked it out at night yet and I might do that tonight and check out the nighttime lighting.
Also the pic of the sculpture also has a neat “hidden” face in the background made by the shadow of a nearby tree.
Do you see the face in the sculpture photo? (Hint: it is on the building behind and to the right of the sculpture❕)
CAN YOU SEE THE “FACE” IN THE BACKGROUND SHADOWS?
THIS DAY IN HISTORY: The first New York City subway line opened (OCTOBER 27 1904). Before this, people mostly used horse-drawn carriages or streetcars in NYC. I did not know subways were this old❕

Today, for you, I have a post about fact checking your fact checking.
When doing research on various things over the years the way that I “fact check” (making sure what I believe to be correct is in fact correct) has and continues to evolve.
Not long ago I would do a google search and usually the first search result would be what I would use to fact check.
Later I started to have a couple of things I would use when “googling” that I used as trusted resources (something we have talked about before on our blog) like wikipedia.
Later I realized that wikipedia was often wrong and one of the primary reasons is because it was made of contributions by ordinary people that may or may not be experts in the subject matter they were updating.
As of late I have been using AI resources to quickly fact check various things and this was efficient and somewhat reliable.
Over time AI resources have become less reliable and recently I started to reference multiple AI resources in order to verify if whether or not the first and second resource were consistent giving me more confidence that what I was being presented as correct indeed was.
I often use ChatGPT and now I also use Gemini and I have had many instances where the two were not providing the same result.
You can only be so sure when taking the word of another that what you are being presented is factual but when I have consistency among my fact checking resources it is about as good as I can get at least with my satisfaction I have done my due diligence (honest effort) to make sure what I am taking as true is true or at least true enough.
Previously we discussed having “go to” resources for fact checking. This post is an expansion on that and the point today is to make sure that you don’t get comfortable having a “go to” resource that isn’t being continuously tested to make sure it should remain your “go to”.
Only you will be able to say how much you will require to feel as if you have enough information to give you confidence that what you believe to be true is true and all I can say is that for me, just one “go to” resource is not enough for all things but is often good enough for most things. Depending on how important the information is to me that is being fact checked will often determine how many other resources I reference to give me confidence.
I LOVE YOU❕
