Cardio is short for Cardiovascular

Do you enjoy running for fun? I am not a huge fan of running but I do enjoy a good cardio session. My favorite way of getting in some cardiovascular exercise is through a Hot Vinyasa Yoga class. I get my body moving and with the combination of heat and movement my heart rate gets going pretty quickly. I was never the best runner when I was in the Army (however I never failed a Physical Training test 😉) even though every time I was done with our run I felt great.

There was a slogan that promoted healthy movement during the Obama administration (President Barack Obama) by his wife and First Lady Michelle Obama called “Let’s Move”. Essentially it encouraged kids to have fun playing while at the same time getting the body moving for a period of time long enough for the heart to be doing “cardiovascular” training.

Sometimes you can play so hard that you are doing cardio without the intention but doing this consistently is the way you improve and maintain a healthy heart.

I am currently doing my research on a new pair of running shoes in order to get back into better “shape”. Every time I passed my physical training test in the Army I always had a belly but I know from Yoga that when my body composition didn’t get in the way of the workout it led to better results.

I am and have been working on improving my health. There are many things we can do but if there is a way to have fun while we do it then in my opinion, it is a good idea to include those activities as often as you can instead of something that doesn’t improve you.

I love you more than you will ever know and that is one of the reasons I want to be in better shape.

As Americans you may have heard of “Manifest Destiny”.

Manifest Destiny was the idea that white Americans were divinely ordained to settle the entire continent of North America

This is a bitter sweet idea. It is potentially the epitomy of the “entitled American” stereotype.

It basically says that Americans had the right to expand in a territory that was already inhabited by the indigenous people (Native Americans) in order to have a better life.

We have many of the benefits today in our country because this concept along with others paved the way for some of our ancestors to achieve what they sought out to do. However some of our ancestors were in fact the Natives who were displaced or worse.

The story as I was told growing up was a much more cheerful representation. Head west for a better life. The Europeans sailed across the Atlantic and formed the first American settlements. The furthest they could expand was the Pacific coast line. The truth may not be as cheerful with the modern narrative as explained by the source above but it at least it includes the negative side of the story out of respect for those who did not benefit from this expansion.

This is my version of “Manifest Destiny”.

Have a vision of what it is you want to achieve. Believe that it can be done. Do what is necessary in order for this manifestation to become your reality.

Have you ever heard “Don’t be a product of your environment”?

Instead of letting your environment have more influence on your life than you do you can “produce an environment”.

It may not be easy but you are not starting from scratch when creating something that starts in your mind that you can one day experience for real. You may not have a blueprint but you do have examples of those who were able to achieve this. There are historical and current men and women who chose the path less traveled and even some who paved the way in order for thier vision to be seen by others.

The thing they all had in common was the belief in themself, belief in why thier vision was important and the determination to see it through until it was one day no longer something in thier head.

The “Destiny” in this case is your goal.

Manifest your vision (result)

Choose Your Destiny (plan/goal)

Expand your comfort zone and head out on a journey that will take you to at minimum a place that is yours because it was produced by you.

Believe in yourself the way I believe in you, completely.

Have you ever heard of a band (music group) called “IMAGINE DRAGONS”?

They are one of my favorite bands. I have seen few bands that not only live up to the studio version in a live performance but exceed it. The songs sound just like the way they would if you were to listen to them with respect to quality yet add additional aspects to the performance without altering the feel of the song.

They have an incredible energy that lasts from the first song until the encore. I have seen them 3 times and each time was one of my favorite concerts.

Do you enjoy MATH?

Mathematics is the science and study of quality, structure, space, and change. Mathematicians seek out patterns, formulate new conjectures, and establish truth by rigorous deduction from appropriately chosen axioms and definitions.

I enjoy math. When I was a kid it was one of my favorite subjects. I remember competing in a math league called “Equations” that would put students from one school as a team against another schools’ team. We would get on the bus on the weekend and travel to different schools. The winning team was whoever had the most victories based on the total sum of the students individual victories.

Math is something that comes in handy in every day life but outside of basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, a calculator (app these days) is more likely what would be used.

I remember when Emojis were first introduced. I like many felt awkward using them however they grew on me fairly quick. These days they kind of seem like a shortcut when expressing how you feel or even when sharing a message that is understood by most without speaking thier native language.

Interesting how quickly they were adopted and how popular they have become.

You are the best things in my life

Everyday I work on myself. I work on being a better huMAN. In my opinion to be a good Dad one must be a good man.

Although what makes a good man is relative, one who believes that they are a good man is a matter of their truth. It is the BELIEF that you are in fact what you say you are. I am not talking about the statement, I am talking about the genuine BELIEF.

This is not an opinion of ego. By my own metrics I can say if I am living this truth.

I strive to be a good dad. Working on being a good man (honestly and earnestly) is what in my opinion makes a good man. You never really arrive to this fact but the sincere attempt is what creates the BELIEF that this is true. This is my truth.

When leading and living with LOVE, each day you get a little closer to being “good”. If you believe in yourself, if you believe that you can be a good person, your potential to be a good person/dad exist.

I hope that when someone ask you about me, that you can say that I am a good dad. Because the only opinion that matters is that of my children.

Thank you for giving me the ultimate motivation to continue striving.
