This morning I walked down to the river to pay gratitude for the day as the sun began to rise. The exact spot I decided to ground my bare feet into the earth I noticed a white crystal on the ground and picked it up. This crystal was the first I had ever found in nature.

Some may find meaning when something appears to be more than a coincidence. Some may dismiss experiences if there was nothing of significance for them to retain. Some may attempt to find significance in an experience and may become frustrated or dissatisfied if it’s not apparent.

I like to think any moment holds the possibility to be significant with the aid of additional perspective(s).

I don’t need anyone or anything to tell me what the moment holds for me. If I am present in that moment, any validation is a redundant memory.

Feat of Strength is defined as, “An act needing great strength to complete”.

Today I was meditating on the riverbank and I removed my shoes so that I could press my bare feet into the earth.

Normally I do not like my feet being even slightly dirty. Now I am starting to think that if my feet have earth on the bottom of them, they are more “clean” than without it. I brushed my feet off and they appear clean but I know the earth that remains is not dirt or dirty. It is a reminder of an intentional connection I made earlier this day with Mother Earth.

I wanted to share something that I thought about this morning while walking along the river. While swinging my arms to and fro while walking I accidentally snagged the cord to my headphones yanking my device from my pocket and onto the ground. My immediate reaction was to be upset but very quickly I realized this wouldn’t help me. In fact, it only made my situation worse because now I felt upset and my device was potentially damaged.

I collected myself in a few moments after reminding myself that things like this will happen again and again but it’s up to me to decide how I want to feel about it after my initial reaction. I chose to not be upset and after examining my device I realized nothing important was scratched or damaged.

There is only one time I can think of that anger may serve you. When somebody or something backs you into a corner, your anger can outweigh any fear you may have and morph into courage when combined with love and perseverance.

Choose love whenever possible.

I used to think that I could only see when my eyes were open. But now I know I can see with my eyes open or closed. When my eyes are open I see with my mind. When my eyes are closed I can see with my heart. I’m figuring out slowly it is possible to also see with your heart and eyes at the same time. When your eyes and heart see at the same time, you are now looking at everything.

You know how the sun rises every morning? Our earth rotates and is on a slight tilt while this happens. As the earth rotates the sun appears to go up and down in the sky. It’s actually the sun that is “still” and the earth that is moving. We may think that we are still but this is almost never true. Even the sun that we orbit is moving, as is everything always. The only time we are truly still is when we are in the present moment and we make a choice to be still. Still last as long as you are present. But be careful to remain still too long. You risk losing new lines of sight that could enhance your view.

I have been working on patience lately. I admit that even when I think I am trying my hardest to be patient, I discover that I am still avoiding practicing patience in some way. Slowing down has helped me pay attention. When I pay attention, I notice more love in the world. When I am not patient, I notice less love. I am grateful for my children assistance in teaching me patience.

I know that sometimes things can be scary. You can be scared for yourself and you can also be scared for others. When we experience fear it is important to understand why you feel this way. Is it because you feel like you are in danger or do you not understand what it is that you fear? If it’s obvious, don’t question the threat, but if something is telling you to take a moment to understand before judgement, you may not be experiencing fear but the unknown. The unknown can be more scary than anything because we can imagine our worst fears in the unknown. But the unknown also includes a love and peace we have yet to experience. Exploring the unknown is to hold Love over fear in your heart and actions. When you lead with love, you will leave fear behind you.

I find that it can be pretty easy for me to become distracted. I may have my focus set with intention and even with heavy consequences lose focus from time to time.

I believe if we ever become distracted we need to do two things. Acknowledging once we observed that we have lost focus without judgement and then we must return to our intent.

What I just shared with you has taken lifetimes to understand. All of my own, those before me and everyone around me have provided assistance and yet I still am practicing returning to my intent.

Easier said than done indeed.

I have learned and continue to find out more about love everyday. I could say I love you, I love me and I love the SUN and they all are love but hold separate spaces in my heart. To me when I say I love you it’s unconditionally and in its purest form. When I say I love me I mean trying to find a way to improve on loving myself and fellow humans. When I say I love the Sun, I mean I love whatever higher power of love that observes every moment of our lives. Love is everlasting and to last forever is to love first and love last.

I hope this day has not and will not include any needless suffering. What is it in your life or on your mind that you would like to know more about? Sometimes we aren’t able to satisfy our curiosity with our own resources so we might ask somebody or research in order to find closure. One thing along the path to closure to consider is that not all answers have the same integrity. Keep in mind financial interest, culture, the context geopolitically for these have more influence over your direction that you might not now understand.

When I was growing up I thought America was a certain way. As I got older, I realized though I am glad to be an American, we aren’t aren’t always doing what you would hope for. We are unique and beautiful but who knows how this experiment turns out. My point is I learned one way about America from your grandparents, my teachers and the media. Now I know not what I was told, but what I know now is from what I see and feel.

It is up to you to continue to explore your curiosity and with your own judgement replace ideas that you once thought to be true with experience then intuition.
