Today, for you, I have a post about Antartica. The “Discovery” took place according to modern historical data over 200 years ago however in the sands of time may be buried a rich history chronocialing the stories of the “yet to be discovered” land and those that inhabited or journeyed through it.

I just learned many of the following facts today about what is different and what is similar with the Arctic and Antarctica.

Antarctica is a continent (landmass) at the South Pole “bottom” of the globe.

The Arctic is an ocean surrounded by land masses (Alaska, Russia, Canada and Greenland) at the North Pole “top” of the globe.

Antarctica is the coldest place on earth and has no permanent human population that presently inhabits the continent.

The land masses that surround the Arctic have had human inhabitants for thousands of years such as the Inuit.

Penguins are in Antarctica and Polar Bears and Reindeers are found on the land masses near the Arctic.

Both the Arctic and Antarctica have 6 months of 24 hours a day of sunlight followed by 6 months of 24 hours a day of darkness (no sunlight). The 6 months of daylight in the arctic is when Antarctica has its 6 months of darkness and then they flip the 2 seasons every year.

There is no timezone in Antarctica.

The Northern Lights are best observed in the Arctic.

Of all the facts shared today I will take away the key difference of the major difference between the Arctic and Antarctica is one is an ocean (Arctic) and one is a landmass (Antartica).

Today, for you, I have a post about the various opinions about the United States of America had by Americans and those who reside outside America’s Border.

First. of all, not everyone on the planet has the same opinion about America. In fact with all the opinions available you would be able to have those who could not appreciate more what America means to them and some of would not describe America in a positive light.

There are those who live in various countries who reside within a border that has a specific culture that is associated with a consensus opinion whether the individual who belongs to that culture shares that same opinion as the culture’s consensus opinion.

Finally, times change. I was greeted with a hero’s welcome during my trips overseas however some of those who served during different eras had returned home from there war experience and compared to the worst things that could be associated to their experience. My point is some of the places where I was met with positive energy perhaps would have been a different experience not long ago. A great example of this (I know I shared this before) were the Japanese pilots that flew me and my company from Kuwait into the Hot (Active) Warzone. Less than a century ago a Japanese military pilot was not seen as an ally.

We do not do everything the best in America but it is my belief that we as American’s have great potential with portions of every other country being present in our population and with them perhaps a little of their ancestral and cultureal influence.

Today, for you, I have a post about the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.

I am not necessarily looking forward to anything in particular with the upcoming winter games but every time the winter or summer olympics are on I try to watch or at least find out the results of the most prestigious events (no gold medal is worth more than another gold medal however the events that the olympians choose to compete in include over 150 options yet only a handful of events are associated with what I call the best example of Olympic Trials and that is when an event (this is my opinion) removes everything but the competitors and a common task at hand (For example 100 meter dash only requires the competitors and a distance of 100 meters to race each other to determine the fastest among them. The winner is the one who completes the task best among the competitors (could be time, points, weight, etc).

I also try to catch some of the bigger storylines each olympics like the story below about the husband and wife competitors or the Japanese Olympian attempting to win a medal in his 4th Olympic Games in a row.

Here are some interesting facts about the 2026 Winter Olympics:
They run from February 6 to February 22, 2026.

🌟 Two Opening Cauldrons!
For the first time ever, the Olympic flame will be lit simultaneously in two locations — one in Milan and one in Cortina — as a tribute to Leonardo da Vinci’s art and designs.

The opening will be at San Siro Stadium in Milan with a special “Harmony” theme celebrating unity, and will include music and performance.
🏔️ Amazing Location Features
🌄 Spectacular Dolomites Mountains
Most of the events will be in the beautiful Dolomites Alps, a UNESCO World Heritage nature area (we had post previously about UNESCO World Heritage sites) known for its dramatic, jagged peaks.

Today, for you, I have a post about the “This Day In History” fact below.

Really this post is more about a concept.

The concept is information change awareness over time.

Imagine playing a game of hide and seek and nobody told you that they weren’t playing anymore so you kept hiding for over an hour until you found out that the game was over and nobody was playing anymore and had not been playing for nearly an hour. Would you be angry? Would you want to play that game again?

Imagine being hungry and you are waiting for food to arrive. Days go by and still no food but then you are told that the food was dropped off days ago but nobody told you. How would you feel? Would you feel the same as you might in the Hide and Seek scenario or is it different when it involves food (survival)?

It is interesting what can happen over time when it comes to “what is going on”.

THIS DAY IN HISTORY JANUARY 24 1972 a Japanese soldier was found that had been for the last 27 years under the impression that he was still fighting a war that ended nearly 3 decades ago. News never reached the man that the war was over until 27 years later and when he returned home to Japan he was greeted as a hero. His name was Hiroo Onoda.

Today, for you, I have a post about “choose your own adventure” books.

A choose your own adventure book is an interesting type of book because you get to interact with the story (or stories) in the book by making choices that create different versions of the story depending on the choices you make.

One series of choose your own adventure books that was popular when I was a kid was called “The Hardy Boys”.

The stories that you can get out of one book could be sometimes a dozen or more.

There can only be one choice made that can alter the story in a very different way and depending on when that choice was made it might seem like the same story until you get to the end which I think is pretty cool because how much a different ending can change a story can make the story feel entirely different even with the same beginning and middle.

I bet there are a bunch of new series of choose your own adventure and perhaps some can be found for free digitally. I will take a look.

Today, for you, I have a post about clarity in communication.

If you are having a conversation with someone and you do not understand what it is they are trying communicate ask for clarity through questions that bring you the ability to feel confident that you understand what it is that the person is trying to communicate or having asked enough questions attempting to clarify and still not clear not prematurely consider that it is not your inability to understand but the person not being able to successfully share what it is they are attempting to communicate in a clear way that perhaps nobody would understand them.

The point is without first attempting to ask some questions that might clarify it is probably not in your best interest or for the best interest of the potential for progress of the conversation to not attempt to clarify and to not assume without attempting to clarify that the person is not effectively communicating in a way that you would be able to understand.

Patience can help along the way when seeking clarity but also have confidence when you feel like you have asked enough questions to clarify to move on from seeking clarity due to the possibility clarity will not be found through questions. This does not mean however that it is not possible through an alternate presentation from the communicator (they try a different way and perhaps it works rather than continue to try the same way).

Today, for you, I have a post about the Indiana Hoosiers winning the NCAA Football Championship last night in Miami, Florida.

Interestingly enough the Hoosiers defeated the Miami Hurricanes who were by chance playing on there home field as it was predetermined previous to the start of the season that the championship game would be held in Miami.

A few years ago when Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay or “Tompa Bay” Buccaneers won the Super Bowl it was on there home field in Tampa and that was actually the first time a team hosted a Super Bowl on there home field believe it or not (it took over 50 years for that to happen).

Last night Miami had a shot to win at home however Indiana were the victors.

It was a great game and it was competitive throughout. Miami had multiple chances to win late in the game (or at least take the lead) and it kept things exciting.

I predicted Indiana would win and because I had no dog in the fight with the Spartans and Wolverines both watching the game at home like me so I was just hoping to see a good game and it did not disappoint.

I know you watched the game and I am looking forward to speaking with you about it.

By the way, a “Hoosier” is someone from Indiana.
