Today, for you, I have another STEAM post.

Here is something quick that may be useful one day to know about using STEAM to assist in this example with mechanical leverage in order to assist you in moving something heavier than you would be able to without using this technique.

If one were to find themself in a situation where one of there legs was pinned by a fallen tree that was to heavy for them to lift off of their leg they may still have the strength to lift the tree using what is around them.. Maybe here is another branch close by that you can easily lift that is able to be wedged in between what your leg is pinned between and use your same strength and lift the tree off your leg.

When using what it was that was pinning you down to assist getting yourself unpinned you were using mechanical leverage you combined your physical strength and mental strength by remembering something you thought may be useful and when the opportunity presented itself you were able to get yourself unstuck using all your resources available.

Hopefully you never NEED to use something to get unpinned but you will likely have plenty of useful opportunities to utilize that shared today.

Today, for you, I have a post about something I was thinking about today and that is the special bond that exist between humans and dogs.

I think that it is amazing how special a relationship between a human and an animal can be when you consider that the relationship exist between two different species of the animal kingdom and neither of the species can speak the other’s language.

Although neither species can speak the other’s language they do still have the ability to communicate.

Who knows exactly how a dog might see the world but I can say with confidence dogs do not see the world the way humans do.

With two separate perspectives of existence, a language barrier and separate ways of fundamentally interacting with the environment around them a bond between the two can be as strong as two people of the same species who grew up together and were life long friends that share both a common language, perspective of existence, way to approach interacting with the world and the ability to relate to experiences.

The example of the bond between humans and dogs is to me a symbol of the potential that exist for other mutually beneficial bonds between other species to include those yet to be encountered.

Today, for you, I have a post about different types of music that some people may have not considered music sounding so different than what they have heard previously.

First, in my opinion music is in the ear of the beholder but music at minimum is an experience of sound and the ways different sounds can come together to create a specific experience that can be interpreted in an infinite amount of ways.

Some of the most basic and early music would be chanting and pounding your hands or pound with tools to make percussive sounds with or without rhythm.

After chanting came melody vocal that connected one sound to the next in mathematical ways or creatively creating a new type of experience outside of chanting and pounding.

My timeline is not chronological but more of an example of how we got to the point where you can enter a prompt into an AI and nearly immediately a song is created that would sound similar to what is currently trending on charts.

Here are a couple of examples of what music can sound like.

Drone Music: Music that contains single sustained notes with durations in minutes to hours between notes. Imagine singing ABC’s and singing each letter for 2 minutes before singing the next letter

Sample Music: Music created with other musical bodies of work. This is the Frankenstein genre crafting a musical piece using pieces of previous musical experiences.

Tibetan Throat Singing: This genre includes a style of vocalization that has a unique sound that is the combination of more than one sound. Here is an example below so you can hear what is difficult to describe (link below).

Today, for you, I have a post about games that can be played with only something to write with and write on such as Tic Tac Toe.

Similar to Tic Tac Toe there are a few games that can be played quickly with a writing tool and something to write on. You could even use your finger to draw in sand and play each of these games.

Sometimes when I would go out to eat with my family when I was younger we would play a few games after we ordered and before the food arrived. Usually games like Hangman, Tic Tac Toe and Dots and Boxes (I just learned the name of this game today and I have played it many times over the years. I did not even realize that I did not know the name of the game until today because I never asked what it was called I just learned how to play it).

Here are a few ideas if you feel like spending time playing some games if only for a few minutes:

Dots and Boxes: Create a 10 x 10 grid of dots with 10 rows of 10 dots and 10 columns with 10 dots in each horizontal(row) and vertical line (column) creating a 100 dot perfect square. Each player takes turns connecting two dots with one line. When a box is formed (all 4 sides of the square box) write a symbol of your choice claiming that box. The player that claims the most boxes when all dots have been connected wins.

Connect 4: This is the “Paper and Pen” version of the classic table top game Connect 4. To create the classic experience create a grid with 7 columns (top to bottom) and 6 rows {left to right) and take turns choosing one square at a time starting from the bottom and “filling” the grid towards the top until one player has connected 4 squares in any direction. One perk of the paper and pen version is you do not have to end in a tie if you want due to running out of space to make more moves as with the table top version by simply adding additional rows and columns to the top of the grid.

Today, for you, I have a post about the Japanese art form known as Origami.

You may have noticed Origami is written the same in both Spanish and French because the word “Origami” is Japanese meaning “Folding Paper”.

Since the invention of paper over a thousand years ago the Japanese took the sheet of paper and used it to create art, not with the paper as the canvas but the paper as the object of art itself.

With only a few rules, one sheet of paper and only folding allowed (no tape or scissors) what can be done with folding a single sheet of paper in very specific ways is amazing.

With patience and a how to instructional video you too can create many things by folding paper such as birds, dragons, insects.

Some types of Origami has the ability to move when you interact with it and this type of Origami is known as “Action Origami”. For example you can pull the paper tail of a bird to make its paper wings flap.

I will leave below a how to video link and at some point today I will also attempt to recreate the Origami and I will share a photo.

Also this video uses scissors which are traditionally not allowed but you can use scissors if you want. I tore my paper to try a more traditional approach.

Today, for you, I have a post about visiting your uncle this morning at the hospital. He is good.

This morning your uncle (my brother) underwent a successful procedure and he is currently recovering and doing well.

This procedure involved the brain so it was something that has been on the family’s mind since the procedure was scheduled over 5 weeks ago.

I thought sharing the news of your uncles procedure would provide an opportunity to once again highlight what this morning was really all about and that was family and not a procedure.

It was nice seeing your aunt (my sister) and your grandparents (my parents) along with your uncle’s wife all together in support of our loved one.

Hopefully you got a chance to see the video I sent of everyone saying hello to you from the hospital this morning. They miss you too.
