Today, for you, I have a post about the letter “Q” for Q-BERT.

Q-BERT is a game that your grandma (my mom) liked to play when I was growing up and that is one of the reasons I like the game too. Another game she liked was called “Burger Time” which is also fun.

Q-BERT the game features the main character named Q-BERT jumping from cube to cube in a geometric version of frogger (a time based game where a frog crosses rivers and streets attempting to reunite with a loved one).

Q-BERT was an arcade game that I played on a home console and it was simple and fun.

Q-BERT also makes an appearance in the Disney film “Pixels” which also had some other popular historic video characters including Pac-Man (the creator of Pac-Man makes a funny cameo in the movie).

Today, for you, I have a post about PINYIN the alphabetized translation of Chinese characters/symbols.

Not every language uses the alphabet we use in English.

Some languages do, others use similar looking letters but they are only similar in the way they look and sound like a different letter or make a sound not heard in the English alphabet.

Russian for example has a letter that looks somewhat like a “n” (П) but sounds like our letter “p”.

Languages like Mandarin used in China have entire words in a symbol and can have a “spelling” of a word be pronounced sometimes 5 ways that all mean something different.

Here is an example of 5 different sounds spelled with the same letters.

Each has an accent over the letter “a” and this accent shows how to pronounce the sound for that letter.

Today, for you, I have a post about the letter O for Otter.

One thing I find awesome about otters is that they are known to hold “hands” while sleeping so they do not float away from each other while asleep because they sleep floating on their backs in the water.

I have seen otters several times but while at a zoo and not in the wild that I can remember.

There are a number of mammals that spend most of their life in the water including otters. I find them interesting for multiple reasons including they look like they know how to have fun.

I know that they are amazing swimmers and can travel through the water in ways a human never could and they have been known on occasion to hop out of the water and take unguarded food from unsuspecting humans.

Here are some interesting facts about otters:

🛠️ 1. They Use Tools!

Otters are one of the few animals that use tools. They crack open clams and shellfish with rocks, sometimes balancing the rock on their belly while floating!

🐾 2. They Hold Hands When Sleeping

Sea otters hold hands in the water so they don’t float away from each other while sleeping. It's called a "raft" of otters when they’re all snuggled together!

🧼 3. Their Fur Is Super Dense

Otters have the densest fur of any animal—up to 1 million hairs per square inch! It keeps them warm in cold water since they don’t have blubber like whales or seals.

🐟 4. They’re Great Swimmers

Otters can stay underwater for several minutes and swim up to 7 miles per hour. River otters even do belly slides on ice and snow for fun!

👶 5. Otter Moms Are Very Protective

Otter pups are born with their eyes closed and can't swim right away. Moms wrap them in kelp to keep them safe while hunting.

Today, for you, I have a post about N for Nice.

Just two post ago the post was about L for LOVE and today is somewhat of an extension of that post.

Nice can be used in a few ways.

“You look nice” may be referring to the way someone looks but you might be talking about their outfit.

“You look nice” could mean that you think that person is a nice person.

The nice I am talking about is mostly the kind referring to a nice person and the types of nice could that could apply to things not people and even a vibe, mood or description of an experience.

In my opinion it is beneficial to include as many nice things in your life as possible and I am in this moment referring to all types and kinds of nice.

I created a list of different types of nice that I think matter more than other types of nice however including all types of nice will in my opinion be to your benefit.

1. Nice - Treating yourself and others in a kind way (Leading with LOVE when approaching how you treat yourself, think about yourself, setting your intentions and  when observing your actions while extending that kindness  to others).

2. Nice - Finding and creating experiences that when you make an observation of your current experience in the present tense it is that which you would find desirable (I am currently having a nice time all things considered).

3. Nice - The quality of something that when compared to something similar would be preferable as an option of choice (This shirt is nicer than that shirt).

4. Nice - The ability to find a way to experience what is available that you would consider nice when what it is not obvious requires effort to find an honest example of nice.(Everybody said that they did not like the movie but I had a good time being with my fiends and I had a nice time).

I would say that if you do any type of nice as often as you can you will get to experience more things you consider nice. Wouldn’t that be nice?

Today, for you, I have a post about M for Mechanic.

Your grandpa (my dad) was a mechanic while I was growing up.

Mechanics are those that repair and maintain machinery most commonly known for servicing vehicle engines.

There are mechanics that are hobbyist mechanics and mechanics who do it for their job.

There are various levels of certifications for mechanics that demonstrate your ability to provide different types services of various complexity.

There are also mechanics that have no official certifications but are just as capable as mechanics with any level or combination of certifications.

Mechanics make up a large portion of the American workforce and the job of a mechanic is often referred to as a “blue collar” job representing the labor involved with the profession.

Mechanics and other blue collar workers represent the ability for someone to learn a specific skill, apply themself using that skill to satisfy a demand in the marketplace and utilize that skill to receive money for their effort.

I am not a car guy but I do find the science behind what makes cars work interesting and respect the mechanics who not only have the ability to service an engine but share that knowledge in addition to their labor associated with that skill without a motivation of receiving anything in return.

Today, for you, I have a post about K for Karma.

Karma is said to be the sum of a persons actions in this life and previous existences that influences future experiences.

Not all believe in karma myself included but I believe in the concept of karma. I believe that if you do good things it is likely to have more good things that you will experience in the future and if you do bad things it is likely you will experience more bad things in the future .

There are examples of “good” people who do good things that have bad experiences and the opposite is also true with examples of “bad” people doing bad things who are having a good experience.

One thing to consider is that good and bad are opinions but there are some things you probably think that are good that most would agree and some things that you think are bad that most people would agree.

Try to avoid doing the things you think are bad not out of fear but out of a desire to do good things with your time and energy.

You can do good things for others and you do not have to do this in a way that it is bad for you.

You can do bad things on accident and this is different than doing something that you think is bad.

You can also do good things that others may disagree is good but only your opinion is needed for consideration if you want to do what you believe to be a good thing.

Whether karma is real or not, acting like it is will allow you to have a more desirable experience in your day to day existence.

Today, for you, I have a post about I for Indian. The type of Indian is undefined today for a reason because when one uses the word Indian it is possible they may be referencing two different types of people although the same type of thing that being a human.

Indian can be a reference to a Native American and it may also be a reference to one who is from the country of the second largest population in the world India.

Not long ago it would be common when most in the USA that used the word Indian it would have been a reference to a Native American. These days it is less likely in the USA to say Indian rather than Native American.

The reason Native Americans were called Indians was an error made by the navigator Christopher Columbus over half a century ago when he arrived in North America attempting to travel to India. All these years later the label of Indian is still present but the respect to the difference between the two groups of people is observed with progress towards correcting the error of Columbus.

THIS DAY IN HISTORY:

JULY 15 1904 the first successful test flight of a glider airplane occurred by a German aviation expert Otto Lilienthal contributing to the field of aviation later having the powered flight we have today. A glider is a type of aircraft that does not have an engine and uses engineering and aerodynamics to allow the aircraft to glide over a distance similar to that of a paper airplane.

I find it interesting that the way to say hobby in Spanish and French both look like the word “past time”.

Some people make their hobby into a job and or career. Most just enjoy passing time with a hobby.

My hobbies include writing, listening to podcast and music, writing music, playing video games and learning.

I do not consider spending time with family, cooking or yoga hobbies because although fun, they are not to pass time but important for my well being (family most important).

My oldest hobby is probably listening to music or playing video games.

My most recent hobby is drawing.

Other hobbies of mine are chess, content creation and daily life optimization.
