Is there a certain place that you want to visit that you have never been? Is there a place that you have been that you want to know more about?
One way to do this is by researching online the place you want to visit to be able to experience what you can without actually being there.
I know it’s not the same as actually being there but it can help with a couple of things.
First off you will get an idea of what to expect when you finally do visit in person and second you get to feel one step closer each time you increase your familiarity of the location.
Having an idea of what the place has to offer and where those things are located will assist in having a more efficient and strategic experience. This could save time, money and give you the biggest bang for your buck.
Another thing to consider is these places do not need to be far away. Sometimes our hometown has more to offer than we know because we have not heard of everything available. Maybe check out local agencies that welcome tourist to the host city or town.
Today I wanted to talk about recovery. In this case, SLEEP & REST.
It is important for many reasons to wake up each morning well rested and to have your desired amount of energy throughout the day.
Kids need more sleep than adults and hopefully kids do not have any obligations or stress that would prevent them from geting restful sleep.
One thing you can do if you are feeling tired is to rest with your eyes closed. This is a form of YOGA called YOGA NIDRA.
This non sleep deep rest allows you to recover energy in a short amount of time. Whether it is 15 to 30 minutes or more you will feel like you just woke up from a nap with a boost in energy and mental clarity.
I use this technique often and could be doing it even more when I think about it.
Being well rested helps prevent becoming ill by boosting your immune system, the system in your body that fights off anything that may make you ill.
Rest well, sweet dreams and may you wake up well rested. ⚡️
Today I wanted to share with you something that I have said before yet can never say enough… I LOVE YOU!
The power of love is my opinion the most powerful force in the universe. They say that the most precious resources in the universe are SPACE & TIME.
The time I spend with you is the most wonderful time I could spend doing anything. When we are together it is my favorite space that I could ever inhabit.
The power that you give me is the power to overcome whatever it is that may be in my way. The power to strive even when I am not feeling motivated, inspired or confident.
Why?
You taught me the type of LOVE that is the most powerful of all, UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. No matter what you ever say or do I will always LOVE you.
The fact that I feel this way gives me a way to describe every other thing in my life. When the topic is how much I like something I have on one end of the spectrum hate. I do not hate anything or anyone for the most part and I pretty much only use the word when stating that I do not hate anyone but the word to me represents how far it could go when it comes to describing something that I dislike. My children represent the opposite extreme when it comes to describing something that I do like, in this case LOVE and not only LOVE but UNCONDITIONALLY. Every other thing that I could ever describe falls somewhere in between and this is not why I LOVE you the way I do, but it shows that you have the ability to influence the way I look at and describe the world.
I see life through the lens of a father, a very LUCKY & GRATEFUL father. Before you I saw and described the world as a boy and later a man. The world was and is a great experience yet I wasn’t truly living with LOVE until I had my children to show me why leading and living with LOVE is what makes me feel most alive and happy in this world.
The power of LOVE is the force that has made me want to be a better huMAN by becoming a better father. Yes I know that I say this all the time. What an amazing gift you are that I have the priviledge of wanting to say this as often as I can.
Today I wanted to share with you another entry of what I have been doing lately for my blog on www.alphawolftribe.com
It is the series called “On Foot” and as you know it documents some of the things I encounter while walking around the community.
To remind you the idea is to share what I am doing while at the same time promoting and encouraging the local scene.
I want to be more consistent with this and my intention is to try to share something everyday on my blog and this is an easy way to honor my intention while being active with supporting our community.
Here are a few more examples of what I have experienced while on foot
Today I wanted to talk about the mobile device. There will be a day when you have your own mobile device if you don’t already have one.
You will notice the title of this post is “Da Vice” and that is because I want to talk about the negative side of having such a luxory.
I will first say that these devices are truly incredible and when I was a kid the idea of what our “phone” is and can be was something that only existed in science fiction movies.
The fact that we have the internet in our pocket and if you include all the amazing apps for learning, connectivity and many other quality of life improvements it is no wonder why so many of us spend so much time with them.
The word vice can be another word for addiction. We can have negative experiences while on our device but we can also have so many positive experiences that we spend an unhealthy amount of time or at least time spent that should be spent on something else that is more important to you.
I myself try to balance the majority of my time on my device doing something productive and less time doing something that doesn’t create a meaningful experience other than entertainment.
My main page on my “phone” is my calendar, communication apps and apps for learning. Even the games I have are for the most part educational.
I do have some apps that I use for entertainment but I can honestly say that I use my front page mostly for optimization and improvement.
My hope is that when you have your phone in your hand you are doing something that is productive and having fun while doing so.
Don’t do what your friends do on your phone, do what you want and if you happen to be doing the same thing as your friends then it because they have a similar intent as you. My point being, have an intent when using your phone and don’t just have it in your hand because it is available.
I am the proud father of someone who has taken another trip around the sun. You know who you are 🥰
From the bottom of my heart, HAPPY BIRTHDAY and I LOVE YOU! I hope you not only enjoy your day but it is in some way for the right reasons a memorable one.
By the way, if you count all the days in your mom’s belly your next birthday would be in about 3 months 😉
And if today is not your birthday, I LOVE YOU just the same and I hope you get a chance to reach out to celebrate your sibling’s special day.
Today I wanted to talk about school. I wish I had taken school more seriously when I was a kid. I was not a good student but I was a good learner. I did not have the push at home that helped me understand why school is important and why it is important to be present and have a purpose while at school.
I would focus more on the social aspect of what the school day had to offer, hanging out with my friends. I rarely did homework and similar would rarely ever study.
As an adult I do more studying now than I ever did while I was in school. I enjoy learning and I like the idea that I can do research on whatever I want.
Education is important because it will help you in many ways throughout life. Proving that you have an education is also important later to make you more competitive in the workplace whether you are seeking employment or starting your own business.
I encourage you to not only have fun while at school but to make it easy as early on as possible to get used to approaching the school day in a way that it does not feel like work but preparation for the day you actually need to work.
I say school is cool, education even cooler and learning the coolest.
Today’s post is another language lesson in a language you already know, SPANSH.
The words have a theme and it is FAMILY
Brother : Hermano
Sister : Hermana
Mother : Madre
Father : Padre
Dog : (Remember?) Perro
Aunt : Tia
Uncle : Tio
Grandma : Abuela
Grandpa : Abuelo
Cousin : Primo
Cat : Gato
Friend : Amigo
House : Casa
You may remember some of these words from previous post but this theme is one that is important and are words and people we speak about often. You can see that some of the words are similar to each other and that is because it applies to the masculine or feminine version of the word, HermanO or HermanA.
We eat when we are hungry and sometimes when we aren’t 😏 The only real reason to eat is for survival although there are many reasons why we might
The human body will survive only a short time without food (weeks/months) depending on the condition of the body and the conditions the body is experiencing
One thing to consider when you are eating is not just that it satisfies your hunger or survival but how it makes you feel and function
You can have some food that makes you have more or less energy and some food that helps or hinders your ability to use your brain
Here is a list of some food that can help with your brain function
1. Water
Your body is 70% water, your brain is 70% water and you want to be able to hydrate that. Your brain is only about 2% of your body mass but it requires 20% of the nutrients so keep that water up!
2. Avocados
Containing good, healthy fats, avocados increase a number of different feel-good chemicals in the brain. Avocados are also a good source of Omega-3 fatty acids that assist with brain function, mood regulation, and emotions.
3. Blueberries
Jim calls them brain berries!
Full of anthocyanins, blueberries provide anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects which help combat brain aging and neurodegenerative diseases and also supports improved communication between brain cells.
4. Broccoli
Your mum was right! Broccoli is good for your health and for your brain because it is high in antioxidants as well as Vitamin K so it helps protect the brain against damage and helps with better memory function.
5. Coconut Oil
The fatty acids in coconut oil are good for your brain and have even been linked to supporting people with Alzheimer’s Disease.
6. Eggs
There are a number of reasons why eggs are great for the brain, with essential fatty acids, Vitamins B6 and B12, folate and choline, which help to regulate mood, memory and cognitive function.
7. Green Leafy Vegetables
Containing large amounts of folate, green leafy vegetables and spinach, in particular, can help reduce symptoms of depression and are very neuroprotective.
8. Wild Salmon
The Omega-3 fatty acids in wild salmon (and sardines) are good for the brain. If you’re not getting enough of this essential fatty acid you may notice a cognitive decline, emotional imbalances and mood issues.
9. Turmeric
Turmeric, extremely good for the brain with great anti-inflammatory properties. Curcumin, the active ingredient in turmeric helps to improve memory, ease depression and help new brain cells grow. Jim Kwik likes to make a golden tea with turmeric and pepper to help absorb the benefits. Some people like honey, some almond milk as a base.
10. Walnuts
Nuts, and in particular Walnuts improve cognition and memory and slow mental decline. Even if you notice, we look at a walnut, it looks like what? It looks like the human brain. Walnuts also contain Omega-3 fatty acids so there’s double the reason to enjoy these nuts for brain health.
11. Dark Chocolate
Saving the best for last, eat dark chocolate for your brain (and your taste buds!). Dark chocolate boosts concentration, mood and actually improves blood flow to the brain. The darker the chocolate, the better!
The information above is from a great source of wisdom, a man named Jim Kwik
I am enjoying some yogurt right now while I create this post and I have enhanced it with blueberries, cinnamon and honey 😋
Eat for your health and why not make it delicious 😁
