Today, for you, I have a post about my day walking around the capital downtown area just down my home steps.

I walked to get some quality water and on the way back from the market there was a free concert near my school campus.

I was listening to a podcast on my earphone (only one headphone not headphones) and also checking out the music from the concert.

I walked back home then decided to grab some dinner at the bbq joint right by my building. It was as always delicious.

I then walked back home and dropped off and stored my leftovers and decided to get some dessert.

I walked to the ice cream place in my neighborhood and enjoyed a cone on the way back to my place with two extra scoops for later 😉

I reached out to your grandparents (my parents) and your aunt and uncle (my siblings) to pitch a taco night and a pizza night that we could regularly do similar to what my mom and her siblings would do when I was growing up.

I like how I am able to do all these things that are only a short walk away especially on beautiful weather days like today.

I look forward to doing these things with you in the near future.

Today, for you, I have a post about my first day back to school.

The 2925-2026 semester began today as I mentioned that would be starting soon and it was a good day.

The school had lots of little things for students as welcome back gifts including school supplies, snacks and even a free snow cone which I have not had in years maybe decades.

Math seems like math but Astronomy had a surprise being in an observatory that had a planetarium type dome overhead. I was already looking forward to Astronomy and I wasn’t expecting the dome.

I will keep you updated with anything I think you might find interesting throughout the semester including a summary of my first week back.

Today, for you, I have a post about Cicadas.

It is actually the 21st of Aug and today the Cicadas are singing.

I have walked by many making noise and one on the sidewalk just chillin’.

If I see another one I will take a photo but for now here are some interesting facts about Cicadas:
• 🪲 Very long life cycles: Some cicadas spend 13 or 17 years underground as nymphs before emerging as adults. These are called periodical cicadas (found mostly in the U.S.).
• 🕰️ Synchronized emergence: When they finally emerge, millions appear all at once, overwhelming predators with sheer numbers — this is called predator satiation.
• 🎶 Super loud singers: Male cicadas produce mating calls that can reach 100+ decibels, about as loud as a chainsaw. They use special organs called tymbals to create the sound.
• 🌳 Sap drinkers: Cicadas don’t eat solid food; they feed on the sap of trees and plants using straw-like mouthparts.
• 🪦 Short adult lives: After years underground, adults usually live only a few weeks, just long enough to mate and lay eggs.
• 🌍 Worldwide distribution: Cicadas live on every continent except Antarctica.
• 👶 Egg-laying: Females lay eggs inside small slits they cut into tree branches. When the young hatch, they drop to the ground and burrow into the soil.
• 🔄 Annual vs. periodical cicadas: Many species emerge every year (annual cicadas), while only a few species have the dramatic 13- or 17-year cycles.
• 🧪 Cicada shells: The empty exoskeletons left behind after molting are called exuviae — you often see them clinging to trees or fences.
• 🎨 Symbolism: In many cultures (especially in Asia), cicadas symbolize rebirth, immortality, or transformation because of their dramatic emergence from earth.

Today, for you, I have a post sharing how I spent my afternoon.

Today I went to go see the movie “Superman” at the theater with your aunt (my sister) and your grandpa (my dad).

I thought it was a good movie and it was something I looked forward to seeing and it lived up to the hype.

I look forward to nothing more than seeing you and this is something I believe I will get to do sometime soon.

The movie today in some ways was about belief. Belief in yourself and that what you are doing is right for you.

I will always be here for you and you will always motivate me to be a better hu(man).

The plan for 2026 includes a few things that by this time next year the following will be true.

I will graduate from LCC with my associates degree.

I will be enrolled and about to begin classes at Grand Valley University.

I will be living in Grand Rapids.

I will be in the best state of physical and mental health of my life.

Most importantly, we will not only have spent time with each other but we will be consistently spending time with each other.

I look forward very much to this time next year. I will have achieved a number of goals with no goal being more important than spending time with you.

This time next year is going to reflect years of preparation and hard work.

All of it worth it.

I know you do not always have the opportunity to interact with one another but one day you will.

When you can, it is my hope that you do often.

It is a special thing to have a sibling.

It is also special to have a sibling that is something that you are not.

One of you the brother the other the sister and with your individual and unique perspectives and experiences allowing you to interact in a way that you will enrich the mind of the other with love and knowledge.

Be available when the other needs you and check in to see if everything is ok even when you think things are fine.

One day you will have a list of priorities and obligations that may not include the other but if you want to you can always make it possible for your brother or your sister to be apart of what it is that you consider important enough to make sure they are a part of your daily considerations.

Today, for you, I have a post about potential with time.

There are things that can influence our potential at any given moment and there are things that can influence our potential or the potential like time.

People say “Time heals all wounds” and to me this speaks to what I am talking about with potential with time.

There are some things that depend on a specific amount of time or a specific unknown amount of time in order for the result to be known or experienced.

One thing that comes to mind is an experience I had while deployed overseas in the Army.

There were Japanese pilots wearing Japanese flag uniforms that were responsible for transporting our unit from Kuwait to Iraq.

It crossed my mind at the time that it was interesting having that flag (Japan) be worn by the pilots when only a couple of generations previously those Japanese pilots would have been seen as the enemy by the US.

Now decades later those pilots were not enemies to the US but allies (friendly) to the US and working together.

In our own life there will be times when we want to have something or do something that is not yet possible but remain possible as long as you stick with it and when the right amount of time has gone by will be available.

There will also be times when things seem one way and with time seem another.

Sometimes the passage of time will be the only thing that is needed to provide a different result from our past.

Today, for you, I have a post about the most popular pets in the United States and the most popular pets in a few other countries for “pur”spective.

In the United States the top 10 pets are the following:

1. Dogs
2. Cats 
3. Freshwater Fish
4. Small Animals (Hamsters, rabbits for example)
5. Birds
6. Reptiles
7. Horses
8. Saltwater Fish
9. Poultry (like backyard chickens)
10. Ferrets

I myself have had at one point in my life 5 of the top 10 pets those being dog, cat, freshwater fish, small animal and reptile. 

I for some reason see horses as something different than a pet but I get why they can be called pets and on the list of top 10. 

I have mentioned how I feel about pet ownership being something that I have evolved to feel different about as I get older and if the animal has the ability to leave and it doesn't being a good indicator if it wants to be apart of your "family". It is my belief that the vast majority of pets if given the opportunity to leave would in fact leave. 

In Italy and Spain the most common pet is a Bird. In China and India the most common pet is also a dog. 

The top 3 pets found in any country around the world seems to be made up of Dogs, Cats, Fish and Birds.
