Today for you I have a post about how interesting the sky looked this evening.

There is the smoke coming in from Canada from the wildfires north of here that is making the sky hazy.

Although it did cool things down slightly it was also still hot and humid and the air quality is compromised due to the smoke.

However today the sun looked pretty cool in the sky because you could actually look at it without sunglasses and if you just looked at it for a second or two it did not hurt the eyes (at least for me) and that was a unique thing that happens rarely in that way seeing the sun without having protection or squinting.

Here is a photo below and this was not at night.

Today for you I have a post about the “message in a bottle”.

Before days of the internet, satellite phones and geo-tracking beacons there were context when people needed to be creative with respect to sending a message especially a message of necessity like “stranded on deserted island”.

In the example of someone stranded on a deserted island one might think of how to communicate to those potentially traveling near by that would not be able to see or hear them.

Perhaps they remembered that making a fire will bring attention because the smoke can be seen from miles away and a remote island on fire is either a natural occurrence or and probably likely enough to not be and that someone is on the island that is not known to be inhabited therefore attempting to signal to someone that they are on that island.

Perhaps they take it a step further and create smoke signals by covering the fire producing the smoke in a sequence that causes an unnatural smoke plume “the rising smoke” so that anyone observing would not only notice the smoke but notice it is man made. (I will go into smoke signals in more detail in another post).

The above tactics help when getting attention of someone nearby but what about someone far away?

If they found a glass bottle or a waterproof container that they can seal in a way that the contents remain dry, they can write a message, put the message in the container (bottle with cork to close it watertight) and throw that bottle into the sea so that it does not float back to the island but away from the island in any direction.

If it floats away in any direction in could float back to the island but if it doesn’t it will end up on a beach not on that island but that of another beach somewhere else potentially that will have someone passing by and notice the bottle.

If they see the bottle because it is sealed with a message, they might open it and if they do that person on the island may have someone on the way to look for them.

It is cool to see how creative people can be when they are motivated and or inspired.

What comes to mind today is the saying "birds of a feather, flock together" meaning we stick with our own and a commercial that is the inverse in a equally beautiful way when someone accepts that their feathers look the way they do because of not just what type of bird it is and will still treat them like one of those who are treated like them (you belong and they support).

Is it more normal to get a haircut or not get a haircut?

Cutting hair means you had the hair cut or someone cut it one purpose.

The question is not, “is it normal for you hair to be cut, hut, is it normal for hair to be cut?”

I would say historically yes and no but mostly no. Mostly to get hair out of your eyes however hairstyles like braiding would solve this.

Something to consider.

Today for you I have a post about my favorite type of dog and perhaps animal, the chihuahua (again).

There are two categories of “types” of chihuahua and I have experienced both in home. There are long hair and short hair.

They are further broken down by skull shape (deer, apple, pear) and even further down broken down by size.

Sigfreed was more of a combination of the various types and Lala was more of a deer type.

I checked Gemini if the word “Chi” or the word “Hua” were relative to the name and it appears there was not much significance but I find it interesting that the word Chi which also means energy or life force to some is embedded in the name with it being at the beginning of the word.

I pretty much if not always think of Sigfreed and Lala every time I observe a chihuahua and once in a while I will see on that looks just like them.

Today for you I have a post about being “almost” there with my new apartment.

I found several places that I was approved for and actually even signed a lease today but even with a signed lease I have still not officially found a spot yet because I have yet to have the keys in my hand.

I have seen enough to know that until the keys are in my hand the lease is nothing but paperwork.

Potentially, tomorrow I will finish up the paperwork to “move in” next week.

I will go into more detail once I have the keys but the rental market has been interesting to watch over the past couple decades.
