Today for you I have a post about being “almost” there with my new apartment.

I found several places that I was approved for and actually even signed a lease today but even with a signed lease I have still not officially found a spot yet because I have yet to have the keys in my hand.

I have seen enough to know that until the keys are in my hand the lease is nothing but paperwork.

Potentially, tomorrow I will finish up the paperwork to “move in” next week.

I will go into more detail once I have the keys but the rental market has been interesting to watch over the past couple decades.

Today what comes to mind is the fact that I have had 8 leases as of today not counting the one I "signed" today. I was surprised it was that many because I have never thought about it before.

Today for you I have a post about the “soap opera” and what has looked like over time.

Although they still exist as a genre, the genre has evolved over the years but still keeps a few things one might expect if you were to watch a soap operatic series over time.

The early days of television that featured advertising had very few options for both viewers and advertisers to see ads because there was only so much air time available with those that would actually see it.

These days, there are so many ways to get attention that what worked previously still holds true but not in a way that it was done previously in order to have the ability to stay relevant.

Most industries do what is necessary to stay relevant or they risk going out of business.

Pro wrestling is used as a modern example of soap opera due to the continuity of stories and over the top theatrics.

It is funny to think if you were to observe our culture with the only reference as a pro wrestling event.

Today for you I have a post about “dirty sidewalks”.

Yesterday when I went for a walk around the neighborhood I noticed along several sidewalks there were the leftover containers that was once a firework display.

When I was growing up I learned that you are supposed to let the firework containers rest for a period of time after the display concludes due to any unexploded materials that still may have yet to explode.

In parking lots across the city I imagine hundreds if not thousands of left over boxes “cooling off”.

It is interesting seeing sidewalks with so much “clutter” yet the sidewalks did not appear to be “dirty” although they were full of litter.

I thought to myself how it is a rare instance where the sidewalks are filled with trash and it is observed as joyous.

I predicted by morning most of the litter would be cleaned up and by this morning most of it was.

I have cleaned up after a party before the next day.

I wonder if now in life if I were to clean up after a party again if I would enjoy it in the way of the conclusion of the party in some ways has yet to occur until the clean up (if you wanted to extend the party rather than “clean up”). Rather than picking up empty cups you are looking at the number of cups of those that held that spent time together in celebration.

Today for you I have a post about today’s holiday Independence Day.

Most of my life I would refer to the holiday as “the fourth of july” however I did know what the holiday was celebrating which was the european settlers becoming independant from the crown of England.

Other ancestors of ours would not observe this independence in similar fashion because those that would fight to free themself of the crown were those that lied to the Natives with the intent to take occupied land for themself coming from a place they were not forced to leave.

The holiday nonetheless is one of my favorites because it has a way of bringing Americans together in a healthy peaceful way.

Today for you I have a post about adapting in real time.

Today I went to the laundry mat with a full load of clothes in the washer just before I was about to start the washer the power went out in the building.

All the washers and dryers were off and the laundry mat was pretty full of people perhaps the most I have seen in that laundry mat when it happened.

Some people started to pack up their stuff to leave, others were willing to wait around to see if power would be restored.

I decided I would go to the store and buy a outfit for tomorrow and come back when hopefully the power has been restored (I will call and check first).

I decided yesterday to postpone laundry by one day because I actually did not need to do laundry until today although I was thinking about doing it yesterday.

Today I was wearing my only clean clothes while at the laundry mat when the power went out and it would be likely not until tomorrow (perhaps) with only a few hours left for the laundry mat to be open and still h ave time to wash and ry my clothes.

I ended up finding a good deal at the store for t-shirts at $4 each (nice).

I was not worried about not having clean clothes because I told myself that even if I do not get any more clothes than what I have that is dirty and currently wearing I was willing to wash an outfit by hand so that I would have clean clothes to sleep in (even though I would not have had any sheets).

There is comfort in a good plan, there is more comfort at good planning.

Today for you I have a post about the recent “heat wave” resulting in public safety warnings.

In Michigan it is more likely to suffer from exposure (outdoors unprotected from the elements) by way of cold weather than hot but in the summer people underestimate activity in heat over time in a way when it is freezing its obvious you need to stay warm.

It is not as obvious when you need to cool off and how and for how long when dealing with the heat.

I remember when I was at my tech school for the Army we had to run in the “coastal” Virginia heat and the humidity made the air tough to breathe as an unexperienced runner (about 3 months from boot camp running).

I push myself hard sometimes and after enough hot yoga you learn when you need a drink and when you are thirsty.

Dry mouth is one thing, depleting literal pounds of water weight in an hour requires the type of replenishing once the water hits your lips you are surprised when you stop gulping.

If you sweat, replace the sweat in addition to what you normally drink during the day (water).

Today for you I have a post about forward facing caneras.

The first forward facing camera I can think of is the “Gameboy” camera.

The Game Boy Camera was ahead of it’s time.

It had a forward facing camera with the ability to swivel 180 degrees (cool idea for a forward and rear facing camera combo).

The Game Boy Camera was released in 1998 and the first front facing camera phone was in 1999.

Pretty cool that a mobile video game system was first to the market with what would later be the way most cameras on phones seemed to be used these days.
