There was a point in your life when you weren’t able to walk
One day you took your first step but you did not walk
After many more steps and tumbles there came a day when you walked
Then you could walk yet from time to time would still fall
Then one day you had the ability to walk without falling
Although you now had the ability to walk, it has been proven that it is possible to fall because of something that occurred
Maybe you fell because you were not paying attention and missed an obstacle or maybe something caused you to fall that had nothing to do with your ability to walk
As you get older you still might miss obstacles (mistakes) and you might get knocked down (uncontrollable external influence)
When you have the ability to walk you have a reminder of what is possible when you continue to try
Never give up
If you fall, rise and continue

Today I want to talk about getting things done and not meeting “deadlines” (The moment that was presented as a time and date to finish)
Sometimes we don’t get things done by the time we intended
Other times we can be comfortable going beyond a deadline for reasons that include things happened out of your control that caused you not to be able to meet the deadline or the thing that needed to be done with a deadline was not something that needed to occur
Sometimes we miss a deadline but it is still not too late and this is almost always the case when considering what is ultimately important
It may feel like a failure or be upsetting to not meet a deadline but unless it involves the loss of something you can not get back that is of the upmost importance, you will likely get over it sooner than later
There is also something to be said about anxiety caused when a deadline approaches and if it is up to you to get the task done before the last moment you can have the satisfaction of the task being completed and not needlessly suffer if you take care of the task when you are able to instead of having to
One last thing, make sure you do not agree to a deadline if possible that you aren’t sure you can meet. Try to give yourself the appropriate amount of time to complete the task without adding extra stress that doesn’t need to be present while executing the task through completion
Don’t needlessly suffer when possible
BUT DO NOT STRESS YOURSELF OUT!

Today I want have a post that spooks (speaks) to the upcoming holiday
I was always excited for halloween because the time of year has a good vibe between the weather and decorations around the city
Trick or Treating has evolved over the years and now families don’t just go door to door locally but now the option to go to a spot that might include a gathering of cars with trunks full of candy or business centers that offer candy the way you would find when knocking doors
Enjoy your treats but do not eat so much it makes you feel sick
I will share more about the origins of the holiday on an upcoming post but this post was to acknowledge the fun to be had with your costume and collection of candies
Stay warm and enjoy the event

Today’s post is about some interesting facts on Birds
There are many types of birds found around the world
Not all birds fly and the daily life for one bird can be nothing like another depending on the type of bird and the geographic region they inhabit
All birds require the same things in order to survive that other animals do like water, food and a way to protect themself but how they go about this can be unique
Owls are interesting birds and here are a couple of facts about the owl
-They have the ability to fly “silently” due to shape of their feathers (serrated edges)
-They can not move their eyes and must move their head in order to look in other directions
-They can see in almost total darkness
Penguins are a flightless bird and are commonly found in conditions that other birds would not be able to survive due to the frigid climate and lack of resources most birds require to survive
Here are some facts about the Penguin
-They can drink salt water by using a gland found near their eye that filters out the salt making the water drinkable
-They are excellent swimmers and can dive far below the ocean surface in some cases over a 1000 feet
-They walk very slow but can move quickly on land by laying on their belly and using their feet and flippers (“arms”) a technique known as “tobogganing”
Ostriches are the world’s tallest bird (Up to 9 feet tall) and have some unique characteristics that make them very interesting
Here are some facts about the Ostrich
– They can run up to 45 miles per hour and can sustain up to 30 miles per hour over a long distance
-They lay the largest eggs weighing up to 3 pounds and are the equivalent of 2 dozen chicken eggs
-They use their powerful legs to not only run extremely fast but to protect themself with their feet as weapons that have been known to defend itself successfully even from a lion
It is funny to think that the above birds are all the same “thing” that thing being a bird but look and behave in very different ways that they have a daily life that would include an experience totally different than that of the other
I will create another post about some other birds in the future that discuss birds that are very different from one another including the Raven, the Hummingbird and the Eagle
What is your favorite bird?

Today I want to talk about something I say when I do not know something
“I Don’t Know” for some is something they feel uncomfortable saying out of fear of judgement
Nobody knows everything
There is nothing wrong with saying “I don’t know” when that is the truth
Only when saying that you do not know something because of fear of consequence is this a bad thing unless the consequence may bring harm to you or another
Chances are you will not have to choose between honesty or harm and likely between honesty and embarrassment when you would ever consider not replying immediately with the truth
I once was less comfortable then I am now with saying I didn’t know something because I believe it would make me not seem as smart as I believe I am or that another’s opinion of me would be I was not smart
But I am still as smart as I think I am when saying I do not know and I remain honest. These days I would be much more concerned with the belief I was a liar than stupid
Honesty & Honor is superior to Likability or Favorable Opinion

Today I have an educational post for you that is about one of my favorite animals
The Giraffe
I asked an app that uses Artificial Intelligence to provide an answer and the information it provided is below.
Giraffes are fascinating creatures with unique characteristics. Here are some interesting facts about them:
1. Tallest Land Animals: Giraffes are the tallest land animals, with males reaching heights of up to 18 feet (5.5 meters), and females slightly shorter.
2. Long Necks: Despite their long necks, giraffes have the same number of neck vertebrae as humans—just seven. Each vertebra is much larger and adapted to support their height.
3. Tongue Adaptations: Giraffes have long, prehensile tongues, often up to 20 inches (50 cm) in length. Their tongues are also dark purple, which helps protect them from sunburn while they feed on leaves from tall trees like acacias.
4. Unique Walking Gait: When walking, giraffes move both legs on one side of their body at the same time, which gives them a unique swaying gait. However, they gallop with a different pattern, stretching both front and back legs far apart.
5. Strong Hearts: Due to their height, giraffes have exceptionally strong hearts to pump blood to their brain. A giraffe’s heart can weigh up to 25 pounds (11 kg) and generates twice the normal blood pressure of other large mammals.
6. Social Structure: Giraffes live in loose, open herds with no fixed leaders. They can be found in groups called towers, which may consist of just a few individuals or larger groups.
7. Short Sleepers: Giraffes sleep very little, often only about 30 minutes to two hours per day, and usually sleep standing up. They can take short naps while remaining vigilant for predators.
8. Silent Creatures: Giraffes are often thought to be silent, but they do communicate using sounds such as grunts, snorts, and sometimes low-frequency noises that are inaudible to humans.
9. Spot Patterns: Each giraffe has a unique coat pattern, much like human fingerprints. These spots help with camouflage and are thought to play a role in thermoregulation.
10. Long Gestation: Female giraffes have a gestation period of about 15 months, and they give birth standing up. Newborn calves fall about six feet (1.8 meters) to the ground but are able to stand and walk within an hour of birth.
Giraffes are truly remarkable animals with adaptations suited to their towering height and herbivorous lifestyle.
Instead of picking some highlights or rephrasing the information I copied and pasted the response for convenience and an example of what asking AI the question “What are some interesting facts about Giraffes?” would look like
I am using AI now more like I would a search engine
Maybe in the future people will “AI” instead of “Google” something

I am not talking what we eat today but how we get our food that we eat
The vast majority of humans that have ever existed did not have grocery stores that provide everything one may desire to make their meals for the day/week/month.
The ability to acquire the water and food from the land and land animals was something that everyone could do and also had to do.
If you were not getting your food yourself historically you were either a young child or when others were hunting and or gathering you would be doing something that would assist those who supplied your meal (maybe preparing and serving the food or it was your job to retrieve buckets of water in the morning so others had something available to drink)
If you could not join the hunting party for some reason you might find yourself apart of the group that while others are hunting you are searching for and gathering things you could eat that only requires the ability to pluck from the ground/bush/tree an edible item and place what you plucked into what you would be using to carry back what you gathered (maybe fill a basket with a variety of fruit, vegetables and edible plants that would compliment the meat provided by the hunters so everyone contributed to a balanced meal)
If you were not hunting, gathering or supporting your family/tribe/community you probably had a reason that made this not possible in a way that you and everyone else would rather be doing what those comtributing were doing but could not (maybe the person was born without the ability to ever walk and had to be extra creative when contributing in a meaningful way that was useful) My point here is that those not helping would help if they could and those having to “work” would rather work than having to trade places with the person who can’t walk
I know you aren’t buying your food yourself right now but one day you will and you will more than likely go about getting your food in a way that maybe less than 1% of humans ever have historically
I am grateful we have evolved as humans and that I live in a place that you do not need to hunt and gather out of necessity but those who choose to still do this are likely doing things that way for reasons that buying their meals from a store is not a desirable option
If you have your groceries delivered and cook your own meal you have done less for that meal to be possible than a number of people that might surprise you
If you don’t know where your food was sourced because you never thought about it or cared to find out you might be horrified to find out the process used to make your food appear in your fridge came at the cost of an animal suffering in a way that you would not support.
The food that is not an animal product could also be provided to the store you requested your groceries from by people working in conditions that were cruel or maybe the effort required to attempt to prevent your food from becoming unsafe to eat was not a consideration
A meal that has only 3 ingredients could have so many negative things attached to it you would not want to spend a single penny on it and certainly not take a bite
Imagine eggs from chickens that spent the majority of their life in crowded cages not big enough to separate where they eat and poop, bacon from a farm that has sick pigs that they know could get you sick but allow the meat to find its way to your plate because it would cause the farm to make less money by treating and preventing future illness, and a slice of toast that comes from a company that is not rumored but proven to exploit those who harvest the grain by choosing a location to grow and harvest crops that does not have laws and regulations that try to prevent people from being in conditions that are not safe and the knowledge the irresponsible company pays the workers less than what would be needed to even afford the crops they grew and harvested if they were to buy the final product at your preferred grocery store
If you do not have to hunt or gather your food, consider hunting and gathering in another way. Gather information about where your food comes from. Hunt for options that make you feel good about the process that brought the food to the grocery store.
Now as a shopper you are in a way contributing to a meal that can be appreciated by others

Today I want to talk about what it is that you are doing next
If it were up to you to decide what you want to do next what would you do?
If you feel that it is not up to you when it comes to what happens next know that it IS up to you how you want to approach what you must do next
Maybe what is next is going to school
You must go to school but nobody can tell you how to approach what it is you will be doing next
I am not talking about how you get to school or the task your school day presents
I am talking about how do YOU want to approach this?
I’ll give an example how one might approach a school day
“When I get ready this morning for school (maybe starting last night) I want to have everything I think I will need ready to go and while I do this I want to be well rested”
“When I get to school I know I already brought everything I THINK I will need (completed homework and school supplies in backpack maybe) so I will feel prepared for the day. “
“I want to be present (pay attention), be pleasant (kind to myself and others) and have fun while making the best of my time while at school today”
Maybe you forgot something or maybe someone isn’t kind to you
You can still have a good day by simply TRYING to enjoy what is available to enjoy and appreciate what you are grateful for.
You TRIED to be prepared so don’t let something you forgot bother you… you put effort into being prepared and that is enough no matter the result
You TRIED to be pleasant so if someone is not kind to you it is because that person has a problem, not you, so do not let that bring you down
At the end of the day you may not have had the ability to decide what to do next but you CAN decide how you will approach how you do what you do next
TRYING is enough. I know trying doesn’t guarantee a positive result but it does guarantee you will not feel like you could have done any better and for that you should feel good
If you TRY you will have an approach that allows you to feel like you did what you could to influence the day in a positive way and gives you the opportunity to grow with each attempt of TRYING
So what next might not be something that has a time or place on the calendar but a way of approaching what is next up
