My favorite kind of pizza is a “Detroit Style” (airy and crispy crust with caramelized edges) covered in meat with light sauce. More meats the better and of the highest quality possible. Often referred to as a “Meat Lover’s” 🥩
Pizza in general is not a healthy option but often chosen for its convenience and because it is delicious 😉
I try not to have pizza very often but when I do I will splurge and go for a local gourmet option 🧑🏼🍳
Today’s greeting was in Greek because although modern pizza as we know it stems from Italy, pizza has been around much longer dating back to ancient Greece for one
I have and will always talk about learning and how it is fun and necessary.
Our education system in America leaves something to be desired. A one size fits all approach is not always appropriate for everyone for we all have various ways of learning that work best for us.
When you conduct your own independent research you can choose what and how to learn.
The more you learn on your own the better you get at learning as well because over time you will refine your approach and accumulate resources that will provide unique references that resonate with you.
Learn to teach yourself so you can teach yourself to learn.
Learning from your own experience is wisdom in my opinion. Learning from others is a reference at best however it can provide shortcuts and caution when coming from an experienced teacher. It can also be misleading or flat out incorrect. This may not be the intention of the teacher to mislead you but if they are following a curriculum the information has facts with a narrative, not just the facts or truth.
The sun shines light as you know but did you know it omits different types of light?
The light color spectrum includes blue and blue light can have an effect on you in different ways.
When it comes to sleep, our rest cycle (circadian rhythm) blue light is beneficial in the morning/day and to be avoided at night or before bed.
When you wake up in the morning the sunlight will let your body know it is time to do things. When the sun goes down so does the primary natural light and the blue light along with it.
Artificial light has been around for only a fraction of human’s time here on earth and other than fire (candle, torch, lantern etc) there weren’t many ways to light up the dark.
Our bodies through evolution became used to having only one duration of time a day where there was either light or darkness. From dawn until dusk there was light and no more natural light but the sun’s reflection bouncing off the moon until the next dawn.
Avoid tv, mobile devices, or any other electronic screens before going to bed so your body knows it is time to get ready for rest.
If you need a light at night, if possible use dim light and perhaps a light that shines red to mimic the setting sun.
Blue during the day (even when it is not sunny) is natural and red light or dimming the light after dark helps with maintaining a healthy sleep cycle (which is one of the most important things you can do! We recover and grow when we are resting) 🥰
When we record our communication it is with letters, numbers and symbols (when using only our eyes and touch).
Letters make up a word that has a meaning but only because we or previous “we”s have agreed to that meaning.
In some languages and even in the same language a word that is spelled the same way has a different meaning.
Can ✅ and can 🥫 for example.
Numbers represent quantity as well as a thing (address, weight, years old or even a name) as well as many other places and things.
Letters and numbers are both symbols that represent something specific.
There are other symbols that aren’t letters or numbers and these are often some type of picture that in the context observed means something fairly obvious. Other symbols even with nearby hints are not obvious at all.
There is something I like to do and that is come up with my own symbols. Other people do not need to know what it means but I do.
One example of my own symbol is my MC tattoos. They symbolize the love I have for you.
Most people around the world know this symbol ❤️ but the majority of people who have ever lived would not. There are multiple versions of how and when this symbol came to be but it seems to be less than 1000 years old and humans have been walking the earth for many more millenniums.
What are your favorite kind of clothes to wear and why?
There are two types of “comfortable clothes. The kind that are comfortable to wear and the kind you feel comfortable wearing.
I prefer to wear comfy clothes at home yet those same clothes. When I am out and about I feel more comfortable wearing clothes that I think I look better in.
At home its sweatpants or shorts and when out of my home I am more of a jeans type of person.
You should not feel that is necessary to dress any specific way but you may consider how your outfit looks on you when picking out your outfit for the day. Our culture has us wearing certain clothes based on the context. For example the clothes you wear at the beach you probably would not wear to school even if the weather is nice. But if you feel comfortable in beach clothes and you are comfortable wearing them, that is more important than anyones expectation or opinion on your outfit.
My point is this, if you pick out your clothes for any other reason than what situation you are dressing for, do it for you and with what makes you comfortable.
Your comfort is more important than other peoples opinions.
What are your favorite games to play? I like games that make you think and make you smarter while having fun. Chess is one of my favorite games (against a computer, other people in person or online and by myself solving puzzles). Another game I enjoy is a language app that includes math called Duolingo. I mentioned both chess and Duolingo in previous post and I will probably reference them again 😊
I even sometimes play Wordle which is a word game that you guess a word by choosing missing letters to a 5letter word and have only a certain amount of attempts. I do play other games but even then I challenge myself to get better each time.
It is fun to learn and to test myself with games that make me smarter and sharper mentally.
You do not need to play these types of games but I highly recommend giving them a shot to see if you enjoy them so your time is spent being productive in addition to having fun. If you like a game that isn’t meant for learning, find a way to play that challenges you or challenge yourself to improve and you are still being productive.
You are kids so you do not need to put pressure on yourself while playing. Just know that challenging yourself is a good way of getting better at ANYTHING you do in life and prepares you for upcoming challenges that are not games and when somebody or something else presents a challenge you need to overcome.
Play hard, have fun and if your intent is to play, even if you do not win the game, you win in life because you are doing what YOU want to do. 😉
“Feliz Cumpleanos” means HAPPY BIRTHDAY in spanish.
Another trip around the Sun❕♻️🌞
A special shout out to a very special someone who is now in the double digits!
A decade of earth stompin’ 😉
I am so proud and lucky to have been the one to cut your chord and unleash you into this world 10 years ago 🐣
I can’t believe you are 10! This is crazy 👏
Every year you circle the sun is special but this one is a big one. Time has gone by so fast! I hope you enjoyed your special day, you deserve it. You are such an amazing human and to me, a perfect son.
I hope you enjoy your gift and please know that if I could give it to you in person I would. One day you will know that I never missed an opportunity to spend time with you and if it was up to me I would be with you right now. Someday soon you and I will be together again.
Today I wanted to talk about getting back to what it was that you meant to be doing. This is especially true if you do not know what you should do next with your time (free time or any other time).
This morning I went to practice hot yoga at the yoga studio. It was the first time in over 6 months! I have been meaning to do this for the last 6 weeks. I booked the class 2 days ago and made a plan to follow through. The plan was this:
Book a class on a day that I knew I would be able to go. Pick a class that was appropriate for one who has not attended one as long as I have been away from the studio. Prepare my clothes and yoga mat. Look at the bus schedule and set an alarm to get to the bus/class on time.
After the plan was set all I had to do was show up. Today I showed up and everything not only went to plan but it was even better than I thought.
If we aren’t planning for things it can be harder to follow through with our intent. Even with a plan it sometimes still may not happen.
Here is the important part.
If a first you don’t succeed, try again… as they say. Sometimes it is try, try again and that is what it takes…sometimes.
My intent was to get back into a regular yoga practice. I did not do this when I wanted to but I did not quit. I got to the point where it was planned instead of something I would include in addition to my schedule. It was important enough to me to make a plan and because I followed through, I did in fact return to my intent.
Returning to your intent is a way of building and keeping momentum in life. When you have momentum, everything we do ends up being a little easier.
Whatever your intent is, if you find that you aren’t following through, make plan, don’t be hard on yourself and try again. It is worth it and it well help when you can use an example why you should never give up.
Today I wanted to talk about request and assistance. It is considered a nice gesture to use language that demonstrates respect and sincerity or “good manners”.
We know that we say Thank You (Gracias 🇲🇽 Merci 🇫🇷 Domo 🇯🇵) when somebody does something nice for us or something we ask them to do (along with many other reasons).
We says Please when asking for something, especially if we really want it 😉
Sometimes I catch myself saying Please or Thank You when I didn’t intend to but humans are creatures of habit and I am pleased to say that the reason I sometimes do this is because of my “habit” of doing so.
The only thing that is really “wrong” about doing this is I can judge myself for saying it as if the person I am speaking with would have an issue with my good manners. This sounds silly as I type it and there is nothing wrong with saying Please or Thank You when you did not intend to do so.
If we do things often enough for them to be a habit and we find ourself doing whatever it is you have made habitual, let it be something you would want to be known for. At least recognize that what is occurring is your past actions and or behaviors showing what they know to be most familiar.
My point is this. When doing anything, do it the way you want to do it and do it as often as possible. This will make for an easier future and a meaningful past. Lead with LOVE. If for some reason you make a mistake, it is more likely the worst thing that happened might just be that you did something that you meant to do but not when you did it.
Always be polite, oops I said thank you. Always be generous, oops a little more for another. Always offer support when possible, oops extra help and care in our world. Do you see how leading with LOVE can turn mistakes into something that is beautiful to witness? Give it a try 🥰
