    Today I want to talk about WATER and drinking QUALITY WATER

    We are made up of (our body) mostly water.

    Babies are roughly 75% water by weight and as we age we can end up around closer to 50% water

    Knowing we are mostly water it is easy to see why it is important to replenish our body’s water supply often throughout the day.

    We lose water all day long while breathing (Respiration), sweating (PERSPIRATION) and when we use the restroom.

    If we are sweating more than usual or possibly ill or at least using the restroom more than normal it is even more important to replenish our water supply (REHYDRATE).

    We are fortunate to have access to clean water and historically this was not necessarily immediately available for most humans.

    Although the water we drink and bathe with at hime is safe, it is not quality. It is stripped of some of the minerals and other nutritious attributes available in exchange for a more safe water that is treated to prevent contaminants or biological threats that can make us sick or worse. The chemicals used to treat the water also are not ideal for consumption but a safer alternative than potentially getting immediately sick without the addition to “Tap Water” (the water in our home made available by a local water facility).

    Quality water is something I have talked about in previous post but I wanted to make a distinction between Natural Water (rain, river or ocean) Stagnant Water (water than does not have a constant source of resupply and aeration like a pond, puddle or even quality water once removed from safe storage and left out long enough to become compromised). There is also water in the food we eat but this should not be considered when taking in account for water consumption with respect to rehydrating.

    Quality water can be made from the previously mentioned types of water available if properly sterilized and fortified with the addition to balancing ph level (acidity/alkalinity value of water that is ideal for consumption), minerals provided removed in sterilization, the addition of electrolytes (sodium, magnesium and potassium used for our bodies electrical network conductivity), ionization (simulating the natural water experience of a constant resupply and airflow) and finally the proper storage for later consumption.

    Quality water is becoming more expensive with time but also more available and not necessary if tap water is present and consumed with the consideration of the trade off that comes with treatment.

    Drink water often of the highest quality available and be aware of liquids consumed that cause you to use the restroom more frequently that should be counted not as replenishment (pop for example).

    Stay hydrated to promote overall well being, prevent illness and fatigue and promote recovery.

    Today I want to talk about different color light and how they can be beneficial during certain times a day.

    Have you ever noticed when the sun rises and sets it can look more red than the rest of the day?

    Depending on the earth’s rotation the intensity of the sun can be different.

    When we are rotating into the sun (sunrise is what we say but really it is the earth rotating into a more direct path of the sun) the sun becomes once again visible but is still for the most part not seen. Similar to moving your hand across a flashlight beginning with your palm blocking all light and when you slide your hand slowly across and off the light it will allow the intensity of the light to go from zero percent to 100 percent visible power.

    The sun always emits light that contains a spectrum of both visible and non visible light.

    Red light has longer wavelengths than blue light.

    It makes sense to me that because all colors of light travel at the same speed it is because red light has not a more direct path but less resistance while traveling. The shorter wavelength of blue light has more “distractions” while traveling because different colors behave in different ways while traveling through the same space.

    Now when it comes to the human experience, we have only observed natural light (sun light, fire and the moon’s reflection of sun light primarily) historically for the vast majority of our existence.

    We have adapted a natural sleep cycle that begins and ends with the visible light as revealed throughout the day and our body has an awareness that this is to be expected.

    So if you have the option, consider artificial light that mimics the natural experience.

    Red light upon waking up and adjust to blue when you have become ready for the day in a time period similar to a sun rise.

    Blue light during the day (bulbs that contain more of the blue like daylight ) will help with energizing you and promote alertness.

    Shift back to red when the day has transitioned to prepare for restful sleep.

    The red light will allow you to see indoors while allowing your body to not be disrupted by the blue light that should not be present during these hours.

    This combination and transition of light will be similar to the natural experience giving your body a more natural experience that it has adapted to expect.

    Our “circadian rhythm” is the term used to describe our natural sleep cycle and utilizing the method of indoor light color transition will cause less disruption to this rhythm.

    Give it a try and see how your restful sleep has benefited from this concept. I have done this with success and will continue to do so.

    Today I have prepared for you… an egg lesson 🥚

    I enjoy my eggs and recently have found a place that is a five minute walk from my place that stocks farm fresh eggs from a local farm in Dewitt.

    They are cheaper than the “premium options” at the grocery store and more delicious, nutritious and more humane as well.

    I searched for an eggxample of a picture that “broke” down the egg and found this anatomy lesson that shows the egg’s different parts.

    I will include a link and share a couple of interesting things I learned.

    The Egg White makes up the majority of an egg with the second being water (not the yolk).

    The Yolk contains more nutrition than the Egg White.

    The Egg White has a name, “Albumen”.

    The shell actually contains tiny holes (not air proof).

    How do you like your eggs?

    I like them every way I have had them and I think I have pretty much tried every version of preparation common in America with my favorite being sunny side up.

    I think the perfect weather is when it is warm not hot, a cooling breeze not windy and you have access to shade on a sunny day ideally next to a large body of water that you can hear.

    The sun can be a bit much if over exposed but if you have access to shade you may not need sunglasses or a hat (something to protect you) to feel the potential negative effects.

    Shade is really just the shadow of something. Maybe it’s a tree or a man made structure or even another person.

    Our shadow depending on where we are relative to the time of day and intensity of the sun can look different. Sometimes if looks like we are 10 feet tall or sometimes its barely visible.

    Have you ever heard the expression “living in someone’s shadow”?

    It means that one is associated with something that by comparison is a negative experience for or description of the person in the shadow. For example a successful parent that has a child that may feel expectations to live up or surpass the parent’s success or reputation.

    I thought about another way of looking at this expression.

    A loving parenting using their body as a shield to create a shade of protection for their child when no protection from the intensity of the sun is present.

    In this case you would want to be the child living in the shadow and the patent casting the shadow is appreciated not associated with negative pressure.

    It is fun to look at things in ways that will provide an alternative to meaning when looked at with your own unique perspective.

    I hope my shadow is always that of loving protection and never anything else.

    Today I want to share a few things about one of my favorite past times… VIDEO GAMES 🎮

    I have always loved games and consider myself a gamer.

    I started out on NES (Nintendo Entertainment System).

    This was the 8 bit system that brought Mario to our homes.

    I would say most people are aware of The Super Mario Brothers and have probably played one of the games featuring the bros as well.

    I eventually at some point played each console that would represent the newest upgrade to gaming up until recently (I will soon check this off the list).

    I mentioned in a previous post why I have yet to upgrade to the latest console but once I do I have played on all the versions of console tech there has ever been.

    My point is I have an abundance of experience gaming and have grown up alongside this technology together.

    I think it is amazing how far gaming has come as an experience and am also amazed at how much humans, myself included can grow in such a short period of time.

    The advancement in gaming is obvious with each generation of console because there is often at least half a decade in between each generation.

    I think it is also true that if we were to look at ourself in 5 years increments to see how much we have grown it would be obvious in the noticeable growth. But we usually only think about who were are and were without going back far enough for our growth to be obvious.

    You might feel like the same person as yesterday (you are not) but with enough yesterdays you can’t deny you have changed in many ways.

    I have the goal to always be working on improving myself to allow potential growth and am working on taking time to notice when this growth occurs and to celebrate that fact while encouraging the continuous effort required in order to have cause for Celebration again.

    If life is a game, our mind is the console and if you want to be playing on the latest generation you must upgrade your hardware (thinking and knowledge) and maintain your health so that your controller always remains connected.

    Mind and Body working together and observed and operated by you is how you play the game but how you have fun is up to you.

    Today I have another post about the weather.

    Today (SEPT 13 2024) is unseasonably warm. I enjoy the summer yet autumn is my favorite season.

    They call summers like this an “Indian Summer” and that is when for the season it is untypical with the temperature and how dry it is.

    It is my belief that this unseasonal weather isn’t normal but it is not rare when looking at a large enough sample of time.

    The weather and seasons have patterns and when it appears a specific day or period of time does not fit in the pattern it is because only the immediate time surrounding that period is considered. Historically it may be apart of a larger pattern.

    There are other times in life when patterns may become obvious, remain consistent and other times when over a long enough period of time fit into a different pattern that only becomes so with enough data.

    Patterns are everywhere and in everything. I enjoy seeking them out and seeing how that pattern might be useful information later down the road.

    You can’t always be happy… or can you?

    Happiness is a feeling that we would prefer to experience as often as possible. There are moments of happiness that we will feel by being present with what we are currently experiencing, by what is possible, and from what we remember.

    Although we aren’t always happy we can influence the way we feel by attaching happiness to something that is possible to always be… being grateful.

    I often share my thoughts and feelings on gratuity because I know how my life is better when I am practicing taking time to notice what I am grateful for.

    The more I practice, I not only find more opportunities to be grateful but the list of things I am grateful for grows.

    When I notice I am grateful, that makes me happy.

    It is ok to not be happy in fact it is normal. The thing to remember is that all emotions are fleeting.

    Use time spent not being happy to understand why this is true, do what you can to influence this to no longer be true and if you learned something about yourself by sitting with an uncomfortable emotion know that you have grown and for this you can be grateful.

    Do you enjoy puzzles?

    If so what kind?

    I enjoy chess puzzles, sudoku and word puzzles.

    Puzzles are a fun way to train your brain to find creative ways to solve problems and practice patience.

    A puzzle is a game, toy or problem with or without a solution for the purpose of testing and growing the mind.

    Puzzles can be frustrating but it is up to you to keep it fun.

    Life at times can seem like a puzzle.

    In life there isn’t always a clear answer to a problem (puzzle) and sometimes that fact may be the solution itself.

    If you have a problem and there is no clear immediate answer, attempt to come up with an answer on your own or feel free to ask for help.

    If you have attempted to find the answer on your own AND asked for help yet still do not have an answer, you may be unsatisfied.

    Do not be unsatisfied.

    Be satisfied you tried in every way you could and write down your problem.

    It may be that there is in fact no answer.

    It could also be that you have yet to discover a path or resource that will provide the missing information required for a solution.

    There is also a chance that it is the question itself that is missing information or needs to be rephrased causing you to think of a solution in ways that you or anyone (or anything) would not be able to generate.

    If the question requires rephrasing or you need more information in order to rephrase the question, the last resource that could potentially lend you a hand is time.

    Maybe with time you will have lived long enough for a satisfactory solution by a number of factors.

    You yourself no longer desire an answer.

    New information has been provided by way of your experiences and continued education that provides the answer OR the ability to rephrase the question with the additional information allowing you to answer the question on your own or with assistance.

    A source once used for assistance now has the ability to provide a solution.

    You no longer desire to ask the question.

    If it turns out that you never find the answer, here is an answer for you.

    With honest effort, commitment and patience you have the answer for any question that may lack an answer and this means the answer was also a question.

    Answer: What did you learn?

    Be satisfied with the lesson and never be unsatisfied with your path of knowledge.

    And remember… keep it fun.

    Today I want to talk about relaxation.

    To me relaxing and resting are different.

    You might find something relaxing that will then require rest afterward. One example of this is for me is HOT YOGA 🔥🧘

    I find it incredibly relaxing even though I may be pouring sweat and breathing heavy because of the amount of focus required for me to commit to the practice the way I prefer.

    Some activities can be both relaxing and assist in recovery. One example of this for me is YOGA NIDRA 😌🧘‍♀️

    With my eyes closed I will often listen to a podcast, audiobooks or music made specifically to induce relaxation. This provides an experience that is both relaxing and once complete rejuvenating. Although it does not include the recovery of deep rest sleep it does give me a boost that is undeniable.
