Today, for you, I have a post about โTโ for THANKS.
I try to say thanks often enough that these days rather than working on saying thanks more often I sometimes say thanks when it dorsnโt make sense like when maybe somebody says โByeโ I might first say thanks as a reflex and then realize I thanks instead of โByeโ back to them.
Saying thanks when it isnโt necessary or out of context is not a problem.
Saying thanks is easy, free, makes people feel good when they hear it and when they say it.
I talk about gratuity a lot on our blog and that is for a reason.
Recognizing those and things I am grateful for has improved the quality of my life compared to when this was not something I have been mindful of.
We can do many things to express our gratuity and probably easiest of all is simply saying thanks when you are grateful.
Thanks for increasing my capacity to LOVE and thanks for revealing the deepest purest form of love to me with your existence.

Today, for you, I have a post about “S” for Shaman.
A shaman is a person who is believed to have access to, and influence in, the spirit world, typically acting as a healer, guide, or intermediary between the physical and spiritual realms.
To me when I think of a Shaman I think of someone that has researched and practiced the ability to assist others in some form of healing with the mind and body.
The role of a Shaman or Healer is present in almost every culture all throughout history.
Today some might consider a doctor a Shaman but I do not. There is the practice of medicine like what a doctor does but this comes from a field that has more at their disposal when it comes to the various things they can assist but usually in a specific way that would likely not allow them to address every issue but specific issues. For example a Psychologist for the mind, a Pediatrist for the feet, a OBGYN for pregnancy and a Dentist for your oral health.
Although a Shaman may not have the level of expertise as a doctor of a specific field they would often utilize only what would be available through nature and the wisdom of their elders and their life experience to approach whatever it may be that they are attempting to heal whatever it may be including the mind and body as a whole.
I like the idea that there are things that a Shaman might do that have been done in some cases for thousands of years by their ancestors for something that was a problem previously and through trial and error when experimenting what might be useful when attempting to heal something specific discovered something that now with the awareness of the success of that application can be made available the moment the problem is revealed or “diagnosed” by the learned Shaman.
In some ways I consider myself somewhat similar to a Shaman with respect to the experimentation in my own life attempting to heal various health issues and with the intent to apply that knowledge to the support of another who needs to heal from something similar.
I have often said that I imagine myself one day being an old white haired medicine man.

Today, for you, I have a post about R for “Rhino”.
Rhinos are and always have been fascinating animals to me. As a kid I liked the look with the horns and how they were a powerful animal that demanded respect of all other animals.
There are 5 types of Rhinos: White and Black found in Africa and the Indian, Javan, Sumatran found in Asia.
The horns are not made of bone but keratin the same thing that our finger and toenails are made of.
They have poor eyesight but they have an incredible sense of smell.
They have incredibly thick skin, up to 5 centimeters thick.
They communicate in various ways including sounds and scents.
They can run up to 35 miles per hour! Considering they can weight over 2000 pounds this is impressive.
They are a critically endangered animal with one of the primary reasons being that they are hunted for reasons other than food, mostly for their horns.
There are efforts by various individuals and organizations to spread awareness of the present state of the Rhino population and effort to prevent unnecessary hunting and promote awareness of what can be done to contribute to the effort to preserve the existing remaining population.
Let’s hope that in years to come the Rhino population grows along with the awareness of those that may contribute to the success of that potential.

Today, for you, I have a post about the letter โQโ for Q-BERT.
Q-BERT is a game that your grandma (my mom) liked to play when I was growing up and that is one of the reasons I like the game too. Another game she liked was called โBurger Timeโ which is also fun.
Q-BERT the game features the main character named Q-BERT jumping from cube to cube in a geometric version of frogger (a time based game where a frog crosses rivers and streets attempting to reunite with a loved one).
Q-BERT was an arcade game that I played on a home console and it was simple and fun.
Q-BERT also makes an appearance in the Disney film โPixelsโ which also had some other popular historic video characters including Pac-Man (the creator of Pac-Man makes a funny cameo in the movie).

Today, for you, I have a post about PINYIN the alphabetized translation of Chinese characters/symbols.
Not every language uses the alphabet we use in English.
Some languages do, others use similar looking letters but they are only similar in the way they look and sound like a different letter or make a sound not heard in the English alphabet.
Russian for example has a letter that looks somewhat like a โnโ (ะ) but sounds like our letter โpโ.
Languages like Mandarin used in China have entire words in a symbol and can have a โspellingโ of a word be pronounced sometimes 5 ways that all mean something different.
Here is an example of 5 different sounds spelled with the same letters.

Each has an accent over the letter โaโ and this accent shows how to pronounce the sound for that letter.

Today, for you, I have a post about the letter O for Otter.
One thing I find awesome about otters is that they are known to hold “hands” while sleeping so they do not float away from each other while asleep because they sleep floating on their backs in the water.
I have seen otters several times but while at a zoo and not in the wild that I can remember.
There are a number of mammals that spend most of their life in the water including otters. I find them interesting for multiple reasons including they look like they know how to have fun.
I know that they are amazing swimmers and can travel through the water in ways a human never could and they have been known on occasion to hop out of the water and take unguarded food from unsuspecting humans.
Here are some interesting facts about otters:
๐ ๏ธ 1. They Use Tools!
Otters are one of the few animals that use tools. They crack open clams and shellfish with rocks, sometimes balancing the rock on their belly while floating!
๐พ 2. They Hold Hands When Sleeping
Sea otters hold hands in the water so they donโt float away from each other while sleeping. It's called a "raft" of otters when theyโre all snuggled together!
๐งผ 3. Their Fur Is Super Dense
Otters have the densest fur of any animalโup to 1 million hairs per square inch! It keeps them warm in cold water since they donโt have blubber like whales or seals.
๐ 4. Theyโre Great Swimmers
Otters can stay underwater for several minutes and swim up to 7 miles per hour. River otters even do belly slides on ice and snow for fun!
๐ถ 5. Otter Moms Are Very Protective
Otter pups are born with their eyes closed and can't swim right away. Moms wrap them in kelp to keep them safe while hunting.

Today, for you, I have a post about N for Nice.
Just two post ago the post was about L for LOVE and today is somewhat of an extension of that post.
Nice can be used in a few ways.
“You look nice” may be referring to the way someone looks but you might be talking about their outfit.
“You look nice” could mean that you think that person is a nice person.
The nice I am talking about is mostly the kind referring to a nice person and the types of nice could that could apply to things not people and even a vibe, mood or description of an experience.
In my opinion it is beneficial to include as many nice things in your life as possible and I am in this moment referring to all types and kinds of nice.
I created a list of different types of nice that I think matter more than other types of nice however including all types of nice will in my opinion be to your benefit.
1. Nice - Treating yourself and others in a kind way (Leading with LOVE when approaching how you treat yourself, think about yourself, setting your intentions and when observing your actions while extending that kindness to others).
2. Nice - Finding and creating experiences that when you make an observation of your current experience in the present tense it is that which you would find desirable (I am currently having a nice time all things considered).
3. Nice - The quality of something that when compared to something similar would be preferable as an option of choice (This shirt is nicer than that shirt).
4. Nice - The ability to find a way to experience what is available that you would consider nice when what it is not obvious requires effort to find an honest example of nice.(Everybody said that they did not like the movie but I had a good time being with my fiends and I had a nice time).
I would say that if you do any type of nice as often as you can you will get to experience more things you consider nice. Wouldn’t that be nice?

Today, for you, I have a post about M for Mechanic.
Your grandpa (my dad) was a mechanic while I was growing up.
Mechanics are those that repair and maintain machinery most commonly known for servicing vehicle engines.
There are mechanics that are hobbyist mechanics and mechanics who do it for their job.
There are various levels of certifications for mechanics that demonstrate your ability to provide different types services of various complexity.
There are also mechanics that have no official certifications but are just as capable as mechanics with any level or combination of certifications.
Mechanics make up a large portion of the American workforce and the job of a mechanic is often referred to as a “blue collar” job representing the labor involved with the profession.
Mechanics and other blue collar workers represent the ability for someone to learn a specific skill, apply themself using that skill to satisfy a demand in the marketplace and utilize that skill to receive money for their effort.
I am not a car guy but I do find the science behind what makes cars work interesting and respect the mechanics who not only have the ability to service an engine but share that knowledge in addition to their labor associated with that skill without a motivation of receiving anything in return.
