Today, for you, I have a post about different types of documentaries.

There are different types of documentaries that all still fall under the category of documentary. This is my take on the concept.

You can watch a documentary (I will refer to them as a doc or docs sometimes throughout this post) about something that actually happened, let’s say a historic event perhaps the story of the Titanic. The story is told through the team that is diving and submarining to the site of the sunken ship and showing what it looks like currently and nothing about why it sank or the story leading up to the moment they explored and shared what they found.

There are documentaries that are based on something fake but real in a way that what you are watching is real in terms of the presentation is “real life” or at least documenting real life.. For example a documentary on the final season of “Stranger Things” is based on a show that is not real but the documentary focuses on the real life stories of the actors and all of the people that were required to make the show “Stranger Things”. So the doc is still based on real in terms of the category but the subject matter that is being discussed includes things that are not real.

There is also “Mockumentary” which is a show that is shot in the form of a documentary but the story is fake and everything surrounding the story is meant to look real but is not actually a documentary as something that was ‘documented” but a presentation meant to be entertaining or potentially highlight an intended point.

There can be other types of documentaries however I usually watch docs that are based on something real however if there is something that I like for example “Stranger Things” I would and did watch a doc based on the final season because I thought it would be interesting to see how that show was made.

Today, for you, I have a post about “awkward silences”.

There are moments when we are talking with someone and the conversation comes to a stop but not necessarily because anyone who was apart of the conversation had nothing left to say or wanted to stop talking.

This can be for a number of reasons but the reason I am talking about specifically is when there is nothing that is immediately available to say because there is nothing necessarily important to be said or simply nothing else you care to add. But if the context includes the expectation the conversation will continue, it requires someone that is apart of the conversation to initiate a new conversation or attempt[t to extend a conversation that has naturally come to a point where a pivot to something else to discuss be brought up or for the sake up continuing the conversation extend what would be something requiring more effort than the natural eb and flow of any conversation with steam still left (has not reached awkward silence).

I will attempt to summarize what I possibly made confusing and is really a simple concept.

The moments when it feels uncomfortable because a conversation has run its course (up until the moment no one is adding anything else) to not be awkward but just a natural scenario that you will from time to time experience when having conversations with people.

Look at it as something that happens but not always in a way that it is not a problem when it occurs.

Today, for you, I have a post about different types of holidays.

When I say different types of holidays I am referring to my opinion when it comes to the difference in one holiday versus another.

How or what I use to determine to me why one holiday is different than another is why the date the holiday is celebrated on having significance as to the existence of the holiday.

For example I love the idea of the concept of Thanksgiving because what it provides with respect to the gathering of loved ones and of course the feast however this holiday falls on a paticular day but not date. Thursday but not a specific date.

Independence Day has a specific date and that is also the date the holiday represents as to why the holiday is significant. It was the 4th of July in which the event we are celebrating (our independence from the crown in Europe) while declaring what has been established and that is the people here are free regardless of where we come from.

Today is Valentine’s Day. There will be stories as to why the holiday is on this day but it is not important the way the 4th of July was important to Americans.

It does not mean that to some the holiday is not mportant, but as an American the holiday might not feel like it applies to you at all where as an American you do not need to feel like the holiday that belongs to you as an American includes you as an American such as Independence Day (the 4th of July).

Some people refer to holidays like Valentine’s Day as “Hallmark” holidays referencing the brand that makes greeting cards (all types of cards). Similar to “Black Friday” the holiday seems more like an economic boost to the culture’s economy rather than a boost to the culture itself that might be found in other holiday’s intent.

Either way, HAPPY HOLIDAYS❕

Today, for you, I have a post about trying different things or things done differently.

If you have something that you do the same way each time you do it you may have an opportunity if you like to try doing that thing differently in a way that might make what you are doing easier , more fun , perhaps both or something else that you discover that given the choice between doing things the way they were done previously or continue with what you discovered.

Sometimes it is not important whatever it is that you are deciding whether or not you should continue doing things the same way or not with respect to the intended result having no negative consequences if not achieved.

An example of this would be if you were stuck when playing a video game and have yet to try things different but keep trying to get better at what you are currently doing so that you are good enough to progress in the game and get “unstuck”.

Sometimes we stick to our approach too long because of how much we have invested (resources of any kind) makes it harder for you to consider changing the approach because you do not want to waste all the time and resources. This is known as “Sunk Cost Fallacy” and can lead people to stay on a sinking ship metaphorically instead of abandon ship to survive the person sinks with the ship because they could not bare the thought of losing all those resources and time.

Do not be afraid to change your approach when it makes sense to you and do not be afraid to stick with your plan when questioned by others as long as you feel good about your approach.

Today, for you, I have a post about some of the things today that are still around that have gone up and down in popularity over the decades and the focus in particular is types of snacks you might find in a candy aisle.

The first thing that comes to mind is Bazooka Joe bubble gum. I saw a pack not long ago and realized I had never seen a “pack” of Bazooka Joe gum but only individually wrapped pieces you would usually see for a quarter of a dollar or less. The gum has changed hands with ownership over the years but the product remains mostly the same in terms of it was and still is bubble gum.

One thing you do not see much at all these days that was common to find in a candy aisle is “candy cigarettes”. These were not real cigarettes but candy sold in a box the shape and style of a cigarette pack with individual cigarette shaped candies that had a colored tip to represent a lit cigarette. For obvious reasons you won”t find these candies as easily as they once were available as a result of the culture progressing from comfortable with “candied cigarettes” to no longer showing interest for stores to continue to stock the still made candy.

The “lollipop” or “sucker” is another old school candy that still remains today in the form it was long ago. Over the years the “lollipop” has undergone some interesting science. To improve safety a lollipop was made that had a loop design rather than a stick to help prevent choking by losing grip of the slippery wet sucker stick. Not long ago a 7 year old girl came up with a lollipop that was sugar free and was meant to support dental health.

It is interesting how candy can be observed overtime in a way that you have the ability to notice the growth that has taken place in the culture or cultures those candies exist.

THIS DAY IN HISTORY  FEBRUARY 11 1990:
Nelson Mandela was released from prison after standing up for what he believed in and once freed chose to exist in the land he was imprisoned with the intent to make it a better place. He was later elected as President of South Africa and won the Nobel Peace Prize. Interesting fact, the "Mandela" effect is associated with this event in history as some dispute the result of Mandela's conviction being Mandela died in prison. Whether either version is true it is interesting to notice how culture has their version of truth and within the same culture different versions  of that truth that exist at the same time that contradict one another.

Today for you I have a post about Caves but specifically what you might encounter in a cave and that is the Stalagmite, Stalactite and Stalagnate.

We have had post previously on our blog about caves and today’s post is focusing on a few interesting facts on some of the formations you might see in caves.

When you see the “spikes” hanging from the ceiling and sticking up from the ground you are looking at Stalagmites (from the ground up towards the ceiling, Stalactites (from the ceiling towards the ground) and sometimes Stalagmites and Stalactites join together from top to bottom and form a column known as a Stalagnate (which I just learned that word today).

Both Stalagmites and Stalactites are made in the same way.

Limestone caves have water than enters into the cave through the porous limestone (porous means that it is not “waterproof” and water will leak into the small holes “pores” that are naturally found in limestone (in addition to any cracks in the cave that may let water in that drips to the ground).

After the water drains enough to make a droplet the water drop falls containing a tiny amount of some of the minerals it passed through along the way to forming the waterdrop and lands on the ground. The water evaporates and what is left behind is the tiny bits of minerals that were contained in the water droplet. This drip by drip process leaves behind more and more minerals that begin to accumulate into a pile.

The pile contains calcite (calcium carbonate) as a result of what is left behind from the evaporated “cave water” drop (water that contained minerals during its way into the cave).

Some caves contain formations over 100,000 years old. The process to create something that would reach from the ground to the ceiling or ceiling to ground is a process that is hundreds and thousands of years to be big enough to begin taking the shape of the “spike”. It can take up to 100 years for just 1 centimeter of growth!

The same is true for Stalactites hanging from the “ceiling”. Drip by drip what is left behind is not the splash on the ground eventually stacking what is left behind after the waterdrop evaporates instead a water drop leaving behind mineral deposits on the “ceiling” to form into a Stalactite.

When Stalactites and Stalagmites join together they go from two spikes joining to eventually form a column.

When it is a column (Stalagnate) the column does not grow from drip process anymore because nothing would be able to drip down the middle of the solid column. The water instead flows down alongside the column. Each time drops run down the sides instead of growing the formation in length (vertical growth) the column grows in width drop by drop constantly extending the thickness of the column.

I have seen these cave formations before and I will see them again one day (that is the plan anyway). Maybe you will want to join the cave adventure too?

If you were ever wondering why it is common for the bride to be in white this is one of the reasons among others.

Today, for you, I have a post about the conclusion of the 2025 NFL Season wrapping up with yesterday’s Super Bowl.

As I shared yesterday, the Seattle Seahawks are the 2025 champions. The Lions did not make the playoffs after making to the NFC Championship two seasons ago and having the number 1 overall seed going into the playoffs last season.

I am optimistic for the upcoming season considering many of the Lions stars will be returning and hopefully what can be learned from this most recent season can be beneficial moving forward.

It was nice to see how many different teams were in the playoffs that we’re not projected to be there at the beginning of the season.

Many of the teams were not often recently seen in the post season and the three of the most recent teams added to the league were all in the playoffs (Panthers, Jaguars, Texans).

The season is over but only in a couple months the NFL Draft will bring in the new class of those who potentially could one of the names we will watch for years to come and remember after they are no longer in the league like Tom Brady.

Today, for you, I have a post about about SUPER BOWL 60.

First of all congratulations to the Seatle Seakhawks on winning the 2025 season and becoming the new NFL champions.

The game featured two first time quarterbacks and two head coaches making their Super Bowl debut.

The Seahawks were favored to win going into the game and they did just that.

The story mostly of Super Bowl 60 from my perspective is how well both teams defenses played. The game was without a touchdown into the third quarter of the game.

Multiple turnovers, defensive touchdowns, and stopping the offense on third down time and time again and more often than not three and outs was what seemed to be all the defenses were capable of until the second half.

Special Teams played a huge role as they often do in Super Bowl victories and the Seattle Seahawks kicker provided 15 points off field goals and 17 total points from kicks setting a Super Bowl record by making 5 field goals in a Super Bowl by a single kicker.

It was a good game from a defensive standpoint and just a football standpoint.

The game may have been observed in many ways and of all the ways my hope was that it would be an entertaining experience (a “good” game) and it was at least that.

I hope you enjoyed the game as I did in your own way and I look forward to discussing with you our thoughts and feelings surrounding this year’s Super Bowl.

THIS DAY IN HISTORY  FEBRUARY 09 2026:
The Seattle Seahawks return to the Super Bowl and defeat the team that beat them the last time they played the Super Bowl (New England Patriots). The famous interception in the end zone by Malcolm Butler off Russel Wilson when they had "Beast Mode" Marshawn Lynch available in the backfield with the ball on the 1 yard line! WOW! Now the Seahawks can let that one go! Congrats Seahawks!
